Steam their bedroom before they go to bed.

I bought the 4x4 off DW so she could go buy her Beemer.

A couple of weeks later, I asked about the heated seats - did the driver side only heat the seat back.

"Oh, it hasn't heated the seat squab for a while, but I didn't think you were bothered" she replied!!

"Oh okay, but what about the radio. I can't get MW" I said.

"Oh, I never listen to MW anyway" she said !!

    Families eh? ;)

One of the reasons I questioned laser eye surgery a few pages back was from talking to the very few people I knew that had it. Whenever I mentioned that I'd read articles concerned with its effects on night vision and driving I'd get a reply like "Oh I never drive at night!" as if that was an odd practise nobody should be considering. :o

As a child I had croup, repeatedly. Your post reminds me of being put to bed in the front room with a pan of water boiling away on the fire, I would then be taken to bed proper when my parents went to bed.

My daughter sold her car last week. It scrubbed up well. Much to her annoyance I have periodically nagged her to take it to a hand carwash where they also hoover inside. When she gave it a final clean prior to putting it up for sale there was not the ground in dirt that there may have othewise been. She paid £5k for it and got £3k for it. So she had 3 years of very cheap motoring. Sold through Autotrader.

I sold my yaris and OHs discovery through ebay a few years ago. Both went for more than we hoped for. Clean, tidy cars do attract buyers so your prettying effort won't be wasted.

Unfortunately, the fact it is 18 years old and has done 176k does put people off.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Over recent months a number of Consultants and my GP have had to write to various agencies to explain my health, capabilities and disabilities. I have been a bit shocked at how I am described. I have been diagnosed as actually having a clinical condition that means I do not accept/ under represent the extent of the limitations I have.
Unsurprisingly I cannot accept that either. I am optimistic and resilient to the point of pig headedness.

On Monday I have a driving assessment to determine what adaptations I need to drive. I need to be "real" to get the safest and best advice. the strain of being assessed will mean my body gets tension and goes rigid and more awkward. My affected limbs are not !!!!!! but can appear that way when I have high tone, and I expect that will be the case on Monday.

If I can bear it I will post an extract from one of the letters, to try to explain my aversion.

    My immediate problem:

I may drive myself into a spiral of decline that plays out and confirms the clinicians descriptions.

On a brighter note my hair is now more Billy Connelly than Einstein and at cardiac rehab one of the nurses today was admiring my crease free face and asking how I looked after my skin. My reply was , Mother's genes otherwise wilful neglect.

I go through every day willfully ignoring my body and its limitations.....and then pay for it later!

Accepting a new norm is not easy, for the last 5 or so years I have been going to bed with the belief that when I wake up in the morning, my body would have magically repaired itself and I can go back to being able to walk for England, dance to my hearts content and have sex without having a shoulder or hip dislocate (right now just having sex would be good with or without a dislocation :rotfl:).

Sadly it never happened, so finally gave in and got help...although it took a collapse before it finally happened.

I still push the boundaries though....
