So Autumn has arrived, here in Luxembourg the calendar says so but who will notice a difference?
For me I have decided to change over my Summer wardrobe to Winter. The biggest reason is I am leaving for England tomorrow for 10 days and don't want to be caught wearing short sleeve shirts if the weather turns cold.
So it's out with the shorts and beige long trousers and in with the jeans and corduroys.
It will be great to be back for a few days. I was last here picking my daughter up from Uni at the end of May.I think....0 -

Never heard of him .... never heard of a 'security correspondent' either - what's that when it's at home?

Probably won't buy that again.
Sounds very nasty. What was it supposed to be?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I don't think it is nepotism to be fair, he's obviously a very smart chap from watching it. Like I say, well worth a watch. He's someone who's on the news now and again, and watching it you feel you get to know him a lot better.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. However - the big problem I've always had with jars is that way back in the 1970s when Homepride first started making sauces, I did try a couple and they were minging.
Go into any supermarket now and there are 1000 jars to choose from. How would I know which are good and which are minging? No point always eating minging food if I know I can toss my own random stuff in and at least get something edible out of it
One jar is food for a week. One jar/week is 50 jars/year. I could eat minging food every day for the next 20 years trying to find a good one!
I thinknyou are right about the price, but I wouldn't aim to eat food from jars if you don't already.

I don't know what I thought my mixture of cough medicine and dishwasher tablets would taste like, but everyone else had been so complimentary about them!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I've always grown my own herbs so buying jars has always seemed a double waste: they taste like crap and there's no cost saving over buying a tin of toms, a carrot, an onion, a celery and a garlic. Herbs are a doddle to grow (I absolutely do not have green fingers or even green thumbs as they say in Aus) and there's litte to make food taste as awesome as by adding generous quantities of herbs: a good fistful rather than one of those rather mean packets you get in Tescburys. Home grown rosemary is particularly fine.
The only time I used a pot of Dolmio was the first time I made spag bol. I got a jar and went round Safeway and got the non-chemical ingredients and put them in my basket and then returned the jar to the shelf.
If I was having a really frugal week in England then I'd make a triple batch of spag bol mix and have it as spag bol on day 1, shepherds pie on day 3 (add a tin of beans and a mashed spud top) and Chile on Carne on day 5 (add a tin of kidney beans and a teaspoon or two of chile flakes). Add two roast chickens on the Sunday to give meat for lunches and for a risotto on Monday plus maybe sausage and mash with onion gravy and flash fried liver with bacon. Maybe replace the sausage and mash with beef bourgignon.0 -
I will be the one to admit to cheating and using a jar of Dolmio for spag bol, my life was far too hectic to cut, chop and make from scratch especially with my hands.
Not that we have it that often anyway, so only a slight cheat....
Josh update - he has been there since Saturday and has spent the grand total of less than £30, most of that on essentials (we forgot to pack his toothbrush and special shampoo so he had to buy those plus other food stuffs) and not alcohol. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
