How long you keeping it? There have been some deals recently on hukd for pcp for about 2k all in for 2 years, much cheaper than depreciation and no need to worry about long term reliability.I think....0

Congrats Percy!
Sue the stop start thing throws me on the Nissan, more so because I hover on the pedals and the slightest touch jolts it back into life, it restarts quickly however but I am not used to it still and I don't like it.When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -

That's food for thought. We're looking at something for the long term though and buying outright at as much below £5k as possible taking into account mileage.
Parking's an issue round here so anything bigger than a compact's not very appealing. Smart car's too small though as we need it to carry shopping and to ferry our kids around. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

OK, it was the 'speaking of new cars' at the start of your other thread that threw me....
My mistake- I meant new to me!
I only ever bought a new car once, when we were expecting DD. Had the intention of running it into the ground, and pretty much did. Every other car's been second hand, but not a banger. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I've never had a brand new car, so this is a totally new experience for me, even though I won't actually own it.
The youngest car I have had before today was 6 years old, the oldest car was almost 19. The current car is 18 years old, hence the 'fear' of driving a brand new one!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Speaking of new cars. Any NPs got recommendations for small cars - heard some good things about compacts from Korea/Japan.
Had no issues in our Nissan micra (2014) so far, we had four in the car up the motorway on Sunday, I was in the back for half the journey and had loads of head and leg room which is nice being 6ft 2. The boot wouldn't fit a decent buggy though. It had no problem hitting 70+ at all when I was driving.
The previous car was a 2006 fiesta it was a better drive and corners on rails being a 1.4 it was better up hills. leg room in the back isn't as good but has a bigger boot.
I don't think there are many truly terrible cars now the online reviews seem very picky to me in retrospect, I would recommend trying out 5 or 6 different cars and going with how it feels for you. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -

What about parking dings on these leased cars? Do they charge you for the full cost of repairs at the end of the lease? Whilst the diminution in value of the car might be quite small. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
