I don't 'get' cricket at all (though I lived 10 mins walk from Trent Bridge at one point). The score still managed to catch my eye though #ThingsLongerThanAnAussieInnings

Cricket is nowhere near as complex as supporters try to make out. Yes there are some fine details to the game but the basics of person bowls ball, other person hits ball (or not) and the main ways of getting out are pretty simple.

Is not so much the complexity... more the errrm... boredom :o. Nice day out with a few pints and a book though. Or a nap on the sofa.

This'll surely turn out to be an apocryphal tale but I remember a mate telling us about his pal who relocated to Belgium for work.

Another expat tried to recruit him for a cricket team he was involved with there, full of expats, and keen to expand.

He was interested and asked what they were called and was told they were called "Belgium". ;)

OH's Dad was in the Israeli cricket team while he was in the army there - I think "reasonably fit" and "can play cricket" was about the standard.

Hey NDG. Welcome back to the thread.

My mate represented England at a sport on about the same basis.

    All well I trust...?

Great day at work today. As well as being told how generally amazing I am I got to describe how long something would take as being, "longer than a Clarke innings but not as long as a Root one". The Aussies felt like RuggedToast chatting about house prices with a baby boomer BTL LL. I felt like HAMISH when the HPI data are released!

And England beat Scotland in the netball too :D.
