    Hi NDG :hello:

    How are things?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Just received my Tesco Vouchers leaflet.

"Free money!" .... yeah, all £1.50 of it, if/when I do the 12 mile round trip to go there :)

On the other hand, I had received some "£3 off a £30" shop last week (and chucked that in the bin, but could fish it out).

So, now I'm stuck. Pepsi are £2 (instead of £4) at Mr T right now ... but, in the past, when I've gone they've been out of stock (the last 3 times they had the offer) - and the shelves don't hold many in any case. So, do I drive the round trip, to buy £30's worth of Pepsi (15 packs of 8) .... just to get £3 off and spend the £1.50 voucher, so it comes to £25.50? Or just decide the reward/effort ratio's not that great.

If you ring him up will he put a case or two aside?

LOL... it doesn't work like that.

    Have you tried?

When I worked in retail I would have done that if there was something on special.

No. People just don't do it! When you worked in retail it wasn't at Mr T's at a non-descript branch.

    True.

I never worked in a supermarket and what we sold in all the stores was generally more expensive than a quid or two.

Click and collect. Then you know it is in stock and set aside for you. The C&C is generally operated from the car park so you don't need to go into the store.

Get a delivery. There should be £1 delivery slots - less than the petrol to get there and no wasted time. Tesco substitute more expensive stuff for free if they're out of stock.

And you can use your £1.50 online. Not sure about the till spit? Worth checking.

LOL... it doesn't work like that. The store's quite small, most are, all shops are always running out of stuff. They don't put stuff aside for random strangers that phone.

If I go out with a shopping list of 3-4 items there's usually 2 that are out of stock in whichever shop I am in. Lidl ran out of chips for 2-3 visits in a row; they never had milk for a few months; eggs go by 3pm..... and Mr T never has Pepsi in stock.

The thing is, the only way I can spend £30 in Mr T is to stock up on Pepsi.... there's very little I've not already got or stocked up on. I was in there last month and stocked up on loo roll (3 months' worth), bleach (3-6 months' worth), mouthwash and toothpaste (a year's worth).... it must have been that £15 mega-spend that caused the vouchers to be produced.

I was in Home Bargains last week and picked up another 3 months' worth of loo roll as it was a good price. You can only stock up so much before you're done.

Even my fridge contains six bottles of squash (so probably enough to take me through to Xmas now).

Buy whatever pepsi they have and an iron or similar to take the spend over £30 then return the iron for a full cash refund on your way out of the store past CS. They pretty much never try and claim back the voucher discont in my experience. May work best to add a few other bits and pieces to the receipt so it is not too short and thus to obvious.

Edit: don't forget your 1.50 clubcard voucher is currently worth 3 quid at tesco direct with free delivery if you use click and collect. I have a 240 quid steam iron purchased with £30 of clubacrd vouchers waiting for me to collect at the moment...oh and a bmx bike for DS xmas pressie for £32 (was before the double up started so used cash).

I have switched back to quidco from TCB due to the better tracking but I do miss being able to exchange £50 per year into clubcard vouchers worth at least twice as much :(
    I think....

When I went in I tried the Scan thingy, as I'd been told it's good/easy - it asked me to swipe my Mr T Card, then said I'd not registered....so I walked away.

Yes, it is good and easy.

Go to customer services, hand over your clubcard and say "I'd like to register for scan as you shop, please". They spend a few minutes doing stuff with their computer, and off you go. It makes shopping so much quicker. These days when I see people at the check out taking all their items out of the trolley, and then putting them all into bags, I wonder why they are wasting so much time. Not to mention the people queueing for checkouts when there's never a queue at all at the "scan as you shop" payment area.

You would be doubly amused seeing me at the scan and shop checkouts having paid putting everything into bags having forgotten (again) to grab some on the way in and bag stuff as I go round.

Scan and shop is very useful for bargain hunting as you can find out straight away whether anything that is stil SEL at full price has the discount found on HUKD applied.
    I think....
