So far so good SC
Doozergirl That's such a cute zebra! I must admit I like the jaguar even more though.
Glad the BBQ went okay Nikkster.
Hope all goes well CK, and that Wheezy has a happy holiday
Generali My neighbour's DD is in South Africa on business atm. Her colleagues there told her "Whatever else you forget, for goodness' sake bring gloves and a hat!"
Went to hospital today to have an iffy mole removed. I'm very impressed with their fast-track clinic. Saw GP eight days ago, Hospital rang me on Monday offering an appointment for Thursday, specialist suggested having mole removed to be on the safe side, procedure done this morning! :T
Mind you, the appointment was for 3.20, so I was having a leisurely coffee before my shower, when their clerk rang and asked if I could come at 10.30 instead. I had to say No - OH was still fast asleep and isn't very mobile at the best of times let alone first thing in the morning - so she said hopefully "Erm... eleven?" so I said I thought so. OH has been dozing on and off ever since we got home, making up for lost time
Just wanted to wish you all the best ivyleaf. Most iffy moles aren't cancerous, but it is good to check. Will be thinking of you loads while you wait for the result. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

The treatment here is fantastic when you are in the system, but sometimes it takes a while to get in the system, or did historically anyway.
That was London circa 1999. She has neve believed the idea that the NHS is competent let alone the 'envy of the world' since.
She had a new mole and another that had grown. In the end she waited a few months for her next trip to Aus and had them removed.0 -

I don't buy it either. NPT probably not the right place to discuss, but my view is that the NHS gets a lot right but also a fair bit wrong. Some of these problems fall fairly and squarely at the door of the NHS itself, some are the result of political meddling, but it is hard to openly discuss and reframe the service when it is held in such reverence.
At least skin cancer services have improved since 1999. I hope the delay didn't cause Mrs G any problems. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? are you awaiting a biopsy of it?
Finger crossed for a good outcome.
Yes, but it will be up to six weeks. It was the only "proper mole" I had, and the specialist said she thought it was all right, but I lived in Gibraltar for 3 years in the 1960s and got badly sunburnt, so she was in two minds whether to remove it or just monitor it for now. I said I'd prefer to get rid of it and she looked quite relieved. thanks for your good wishes
Thank you Viva, it was seeing your signature that nudged me into having it checked out0 -

A reason piece recently on the BBC website said the NHS was bottom half internationally compared to similar countries but that was OK because it was fairly cheap. I suspect with health their are diminishing returns beyond a fairly early point (for example vaccinations probably provide massive bang per buck, then good anti-natal care etc right down to extensive screening programs that only pick up very few problems at vast expense so I am not convinced that the NHS does as well as it might given it should have inherent advantages over less centralised systems in terms of resource allocation decisions - but I know what Mr G will have to say on the putative advantages of central management vs the free market...
Talking of economic decisions, despite having a majorly busy to do list and it being the street party, I spent a good few hours yesterday 'resurrecting' a router so that I could monitor my solar panels performance on line. I don't need to monitor the performance, it will not lead to me changing anything and certainly don't need to real time. I could very easily have bought a new router for a tenner or a set of homeplug lan adaptors for 20 quid but somehow knowing I had a suitable piece of kit in the house if I could just get it to work meant I couldn't go for the sensible option.
That means as well as doing the normal weekend chores today I also still need to sort out party bags for birthday no 1 at 4PM...I'd better get on!I think....0 -

Most def for fun, Speedway GP held at the Millenium stadium. No driving for me as we went on a coach organised by the speedway club which meant I could also nap on the drive there and back.
Huge huge fun, had a great day although it is probably going to take me weeks to recover. James and youngest came too, youngest because he wanted to experience a city, James because he always used to come with me for the GPs (he has been to several countries for it). I was dubious about youngest going but because we had wheelchair seats, it meant he had plenty of space around him...he absolutely loved it!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

You'd have had those done if you hadn't spent all your time making a rod for your own back
In my day a party was sandwiches/squash/biscuits/cake at your house for 4-6 neighbours' kids ... and they took a slice of cake and probably a balloon home in a serviette.0 -

Glad you had a lovely time Sue, I know that you love your speedway. Glad to hear that the Sig works!
I've had a number of random bits cut off. Only one so far has been a worrying one. If you have any concerns, having it removed is the best way forward. I am playing removal method bingo... so far have had a punch biopsy, a scrape biopsy, narrow local excision and wide local excision. Not too many more to full house.
If you ever feel you need more info pm me, I can point you in the direction of two excellent support groups. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yeah....except my energy levels are not great, so everything will have to be paced alongside being carefully organised with regards to wheelchair access etc.
I just wish I could drive the distances now, I'll have a nice new car but will still have to rely on others driving as it is all too much for me.
Absolutely shattered right now, body doesn't want to move but for the weekend we have had, very very much worth it.We made it!
