Isn't the hay all done by machine? In those giant bales that look like a Swiss roll? Much too heavy to move by hand.

Whether rectangles, or rolls, they need to be moved from the field and stacked under cover at some point..... can't just leave them out there!

    I've been Money Tipped!
When I was younger (11-14) there was a cornfield at the bottom of the garden - publicly accessible via the gate four doors along. Once it had been baled the "bigger boys" (aged 17-20) would build a huge pyramid, then sit inside it chatting (and smoking!). It was really high, probably 8-10 bales high. When they built it, they made one corner "loose", so you got in by dropping in from the top - and got out by pushing out the corner bale.

I went into one once, but I'm a scaredy cat, so soon left.

They were bloody lucky, Hay and straw fires are horrid.

Send strong men......my hay is coming in this weekend. Only keeping two hundred bales I think though, but all needs to get out of the fields none the less.

    Head hurts, tired.
TOP TIP: freecycle something too heavy for one person to lift.

two weeks ago I freecycled a large heavy mahogany chest of drawers. The guy who wanted came to collect it with his mate , I had explained it needed carrying downstairs. After these two strapping blokes had loaded the chest onto a trailer I asked them if they would mind helping me with some items I wanted moved. They kindly shifted many heavy full Ikea boxes into DD's bedroom and valiantly tried to move a large wardrobe from her room to ours along an awkward landing. the wardrobe could not fit round the bannister newel post so they had to carry it back to where it had been. One of them offered to comeback the following day with tools to dimantle and reassemble it where required. I declined, but my husband and daughter noted I had lost none of my delegation and management skills.

Yields are terrible in inner Herts.

If it all comes together correctly we should get a yield over 10%. Enough leeway in the figures that I won't be in tears if it doesn't get that much.

This is near the centre of a northern town ripe for increase in property values. Was popular student land, but students now concentrate even more on the immediate vicinity of Halls and the number of private halls increasing along with more students living at home, means the area has fallen out of favour with students. So the property was empty and the landlord not interested in doing the work to improve it, so I think we have got it cheap. We are buying for less than the previous owner bought for 10 years ago.

Needs a lot of work, some of it structural, so we shall see.

We have fallen in with a property development team that specialise in HMOs, so it could all work out well or it may not.......

Depends, there is always Hatfield

HMOs  WE will come and visit you in prison when you by mistake fall foul of some newly made up regulation.

I am hoping top have the solar installed before the end of June to lock in the higher fit but the quoting companies have all gone quiet now I have started asking about start up voltage levels on individual inverter strings with a 4:12 panel split :(
    I think....

I know, I know. We looked at this previously in the East End (of London) but the properties were so dire, I didn't want to be a slum landlord. This outfit seem to be keen on providing decent homes, I've seen a couple of their previous projects and they have won some awards. Time will tell.

Top tip if it gets tight on timing.... they don't have to be in place to qualify, just connected....so if you get the chance to have them connected and lying on the grass just to qualify, it's legit.

Well our favourite citrusy gelatinous friend might have been interviewed by idiots but Mrs Generali wasn't. She just got a three month contract in a pretty family friendly company doing exactly the job she wanted.:j:money::D
