Sorry to hear that LJ.
But the only way to look at it is there's something much better coming in the pipeline for you. When that arrives you'll be pleased you didn't get this one.
Have some dodgy hugs from me anyway. :grouphug:
And keep on looking and trying - your ideal job is out there somewhere in time and space just waiting for you!0 -
I'm going to be ordering my first Motability car in the next few weeks....do you have any tips, how to go about it etc.
Ordered a new wheelchair today, suspension back and front, cushioned seat and back, all mod cons...going to be bliss. My old chair did the job it was needed for and did it well for the last almost 4 years but it was second hand when I got it, quite old, no padding and def no suspension, it was starting to kill my joints when we were out and about.
Will get back to you later on this Sue, as we're about to hit lottie-land for some air and peace. And have too much to say to just do it without some thought. But are you just getting a standard car or is it going to be one with adaptations for your disability? Things like knob on steering wheel, hoist for wheelchair etc. My only experience is getting normal ordinary cars, not adapted ones.
Do take your time on research though!0 -
Sorry you didn't get the job mate. Their losss.
It's being reported in Aus as fact.
My experience of working in corporate financial services in Aus is that the hours are shorter, the commute is shorter and the levels of stress are much lower. Pay is lower too sadly.
Generally you get treated better at work in Aus than in London. Customers are kinder and bosses less bottom-hole like. The only person I worked for here who was a complete bottom was an Irishman. His first words to me when I started working for him were, "I hate English people". That was the high point of our relationship.
But stress is not comparative in that way. Very few people stop to think on a daily or more basis, how lucky in comparison they are, so there stress is in 'reaction' to own lives, not in a 'there but for grace of god go I ' sort of way.
Yesterday I felt more myself for a longtime and I was hanging out washing thinking ' gratitude for live somewhere where clean water, electricity, is available, where owning a washing machine is not so unattainable. Gratitude for having a home with a line to hang our washing on, gratitude for a day with breeze and dryness and sun. Etc etc. How lucky I am'
Its easies often to think' got to do boring laundry..'0 -
I had a bit of a dilemma about what to do this weekend...
Then today a friend has invited herself over tonight. And another has invited themselves over tomorrow/ Sunday.
That decides that then! The universe has spoken0 -

I am sorry, LJ. Hopefully you'll be out of where you are soon.

Thinking about it, if Doozer carries on today then we may not make 44. He just text me to say he'd lost out at a charity auction. He bid £950 on a signed photograph of Nobby Styles and Bobby Charlton. Apparantly, it's priceless.
As if, if anyone remembers, my reaction to his 'winning' an autograph of the Gallagher brothers and telling me he'd got me an awesome Xmas present wasn't good enough. Thankfully, his friend text me the pic on the night, or there would have been a frosty atmosphere on Christmas Day.
He's spent £300 on essentially one ticket for lunch as he bought the tickets for our team and told them it would be rubbish. They're all at work, having decided not to bother with it. I'm not allowed to go as I'm a woman! We wouldn't have bought one goddam ticket if I'd have known that at the time.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The radio times online thingy to check for tv listings is IMO a really good tool. I check it for films etc.
However, The windows for showing what's on are a bit small, so you often get the first bit of the programme title.
I have to admit the idea of a show that looks like its called 'Mary Berry's Abs' is just a tad offputting.0
