I cried when took my first Motability car back to exchange for new one. I think it was because it had seen me through a very traumatic time over the 3 year lease, and I don't know how we'd have coped without it. Took my parents out for a drive in it when it was new, by the end of the lease we had seen them in and out of hospital, into nursing homes, and then two funerals withing just over 6 weeks. Oh, and cleared their flat using it too! Really did feel like an old friend!
I'm going to be ordering my first Motability car in the next few weeks....do you have any tips, how to go about it etc.
Ordered a new wheelchair today, suspension back and front, cushioned seat and back, all mod cons...going to be bliss. My old chair did the job it was needed for and did it well for the last almost 4 years but it was second hand when I got it, quite old, no padding and def no suspension, it was starting to kill my joints when we were out and about. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Belated Congratulations Maggie!
As regards technology, I have finally upgraded to a slightly more modern computer, a secondhand intel mac running an old OS (10.6). True to my luddite tendencies, I'm not touching the newer Mac OSes with a bargepole. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

The techy things don't bother me. Its the colour possibilities and ability to make the senses work together...something more important to me. I struggle enjoying music a lot increasingly, ( although no one considers it important...inc me, I mean, that hardly hurts!, I think it a issue and i think this might help try and join some dots in areas of appreciation. Or not..
I think I put them on a want list for next year.
Noticed an unusual thing. When you are in any room in my home, you cannot see into any other room. Great for privacy, quiet, avoiding noise travelling, and of course, hide and seek.
Not great for popping on a cd/record.
Think it's more a one day list than right now though, as it is expensive, and also there's so many other things I want to do (mainly decorating, but I really really want to start thinking about how to change the kitchen, make more space, and how much it will cost). It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Wheezy Mazda got scrapped yesterday.
I actually felt a bit sad saying goodbye to the old thing.
Silly eh?
Maybe I'm just heartless?
I had a friend who got attached to my old car. I never had the heart to tell them when my parents scrapped it.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I'm not overly disappointed that I didn't get the job. I am disappointed I'm stuck where I am.
The hunt will go on.
