Jekka is not too hard to get to from here. But she has open days rather than being open. Fir and I were going to go but I was not able to on all last years open days.

Trelawne ( sp?) is lawn chamomile, ( it neither flowers and nor therefore does it seed) its not what I plan to use where we use chamomile. We have an amazing, amazing low growing chamomile which spreads well, flowers, smells better. I might put some lawn chamomile in the mix, but...I'm thinking I might go for more stability from something else. For infusions i a different chamomile again!

I'm quite tempted to try and plan a day trip over there...

I don't mind a shuffle round somewhere close, that's free, but to get there/back and get in it's £45 (fuel, £3 for car wear/tear to round it up, £5 entry).

Think how much garden cr4p I could buy at Lidl/Tesco locally for £45 if I were that interested in gardens :)

More from here too I'd guess... but I have a friend who I think would love it. And could do with a day out somewhere new and green. Will have to get plotting :)

Edit: ooh, just thought. Sometimes we're both further West than now. That would work better, just need to coordinate timings :)

Oops. 'Popped' into town for my usual Saturday visit to Lidl / running errands etc. Left the house around 1:30... just got back  (bumped into a friend and we ended up going for a couple of drinks by the river)

Nikkster, I'm in danger of reliving my past surreptitiously through you.:) Was it near a bridge over the river?

Friend and I looked around TK Maxx this afternoon (we have a shared love of TK Maxx). We commented that a lot of the stuff we were drawn to befitted a lifestyle that we completely didn't have.

Well, I'm a very novice gardener who just happens to have delusions of grandeur. My non grass lawn will be either side of a lavender-lined path. But this isn't some country cottage, it's my student hovel by a main road. But it's mine :D

When I lived in Nikksterville, I had no delusions of grandeur and barely had even delusions of adequacy regarding my gardening skills. Hence my earlier posts about the garden resembling Children of the Corn and needing the attention of a scythe

I thought it's very noisy? The machine has huge magnets that get switched on and off rapidly. Every time the current goes on the magnetic coil stretches, and when the current is switched off it contracts again. Hence a very loud hum. If you fell asleep, you must have been remarkably relaxed.

Edit: the noise is reported to be as high as 125dB, like a rock concert. What sort of ear protection did they give you?

That's louder than the big bang apparently! ;)

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Rock concerts are louder than the Big Bang? Spinal Tap?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Nikks, if you fancy getting ideas, have you looked at the different projects where people open their private gardens for a day or so? There are a few different ones, e.g....

    National Garden Scheme

    Red Cross

It's worth going to nearest ones to you to see what grows well I think.

We went to ones in our villages and found that there is the most amazing garden behind a house in the ' main street' of one of the villages, one doesn't expect a garden of over six acres behind a house ' in a row' however grand the house. When one drives past one would believe an acre would be improbable

Has anyone else noticed that the volume on the BBC goes all the way up to 11?
