Fir has been thinking about making rose filled doughnuts for a while. But now he is going to be home so much more he has bought sourdough starter. He has been talking about sourdough doughnuts a lot.0 -

Ooh... thanks for the tip
I'm sure I mentioned it at the time, but last month I went for afternoon tea at the St. Pancras Hotel. Fabulous. A lovely room, and they didn't rush us at all (we were there for over 3 hours I think). Came round with extra of everything too - none of us managed to finish our cakes, despite our best efforts. Reasonably priced compared to other places in London too (according to the organiser).
I would happily go there again.0 -

You spendthrift, we get donuts from morrisons yellow sticker, 35p at most but often 9p for 5.
I can do better than that. I don't buy doughnuts at all
I've got much more of a savoury tooth.
PN: Sorry to see your update. At least there is no roaming this time. Fingers crossed for an uneventful night.0 -

A permit is required to use the local tip now in a van/more than once a month.
I rolled up in a rented van the other week (had the rental company stickers on it) and wasn't apprehended.
Pulled up in the car a few days later to be shouted at by the workers there, so there seems to be a really inconsistent policy.
Starting to feel really tired now; not sure if it's because I'm getting older or still because of the illness 2 years ago. Slept most of last night/this afternoon, but it just appears to have made it worse💙💛 💔0 -

On the other hand, you're probably in 5 shops a day every day just looking ...and in an area where they reduce.
Best one I ever got was a £27 cake reduced to £3.50.
There were 2 people arguing about who was going to have it, so I took the opportunity to grab it from the shelf and run.
This was in Waitrose in my town.💙💛 💔0 -
PN hope all is resolved by the morning and all safe and comfortable0

Illness, won't have helped CK, but there's only so long you can work at the rate you have been doing before it catches up. I used to laugh in the face of 20 hour days, now15 max and that needs recovery time.
PN, I expect they will be trying to stop her from getting up soon:(.
I have never had a home-made doughnut, lir's are sounding very elegant, not a word normally associated with doughnuts, which are invariably disappointing.0 -
Drooling, good luck with it and let me know how you get on.
Plenty of people post on local facebook groups, saying they are moving into a first home and are desperate for any furniture.
They do, but then it turns out that they can't move the stuff. I put quite a lot of stuff on 3cycle. One chap collected for his secondhand shop. Another picked up some good quality furniture but forgot one of the drawers. He never got back to me about that, so I assume he just wanted firewood. I put some flat pack shelves on, and then found myself spending ages dismantling them, so that someone who promised to bring a van could actually get them in the back of her hatchback.
This stuff can't be dismantled, so anybody taking it needs a large van, which as PN knows costs £50 ish. Plus it won't fit up the stairs.
I'm throwing away a pine bed frame that's in good nick and easy to dismantle, but it's a non standard size. Halfway between single and double.
A set of upholstered dining chairs with arms that the charity shop just sniffed at. Not my taste, or we'd have them in place of our kitchen chairs. They are in much better nick then our chairs.
And so on. There is just an endless list of not very convincing reasons why nobody seems to want this stuff. They might take it if we delivered, but there's a limit...No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
These are a bit twee but LIR's relative may feel it's the real McCoy.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
