We found it funny that a (male, late 40s) friend of mine owns a onesie the other day.

I think the link is just weird if I'm honest.

Anyone want an update on whats happening here? I don't want to bore you to death :)

I think you'll find there is nothing wrong with men wearing onesies, or generic sheepskin boots.

The Telegraph has run a photo gallery on its website of patent applications from the turn of the previous century that didn't get made. Some are quite inventive (cork swimming costume anybody?) and others are just plain odd... made me laugh out loud...

The house I grew up in and my current workplace both have/had friction slowed rope fire escapes. No way I would have trusted to the 80(?) year old rope in either....
    I think....

I work on the top floor of my house, and I have a Davy Escape here. It was mostly installed because my two eldest sons slept on this floor. The 'rope' is actually a steel cable with a fabric surround. The mechanism is extraordinarily simple, with a centrifugal friction brake. Unless the whole thing rusts solid, it is likely to work beautifully in 80 years time.

Well if you would like to come to my office and test ours it would be much appreciated, it is only about 40 feet. I'm afraid I will have to ask you to sign a liability waiver first though....

Edit: BTW the recommended electrician (he used to live on the parallel street) did the bizz this morning, probably could have got it cheaper but it ould have meant getting more quotes and time was limited. I am wondering how much our leccy bill will jump now....

Edit2: So I am going up to the loft to check the hot water immersions are switched off....
    I think....

No, because that would take the gutters down and half the roof tiles would break where I would have to walk on them.

    a Davy Escape

    Posh alert. :)

When we lived in a tall building in a less salubrious part of the world for a few months, we just kept go-bags, ropes, harnesses and carabiners near the window.

90 seconds to gear up and then out you go....;)
