Petrol Station Con?

Amazes me how many people think like that and then spend 30 minutes driving to find a cheaper filling station.
The method that I find works best:
Fill tank.
Pay.
Drive off.
Repeat after 500 miles.
Fueling a car is depressing as it is, so the least number of trips I have to sit behind people in the queue who after filling up, insist on changing their seat, faffing with hand bag, adjusting mirrors, applying makeup, messing with something on the back seat, then getting back out to take their coat off, the better.
When I say 'later' I don't mean I fill up £10 at the expensive place then carry on to the cheap place to fill up. 'Later' can mean the next day or day after when I am passing.0 -
you wouldnt have the problem in Venezuala where fuel is around 1p a litre, long way to go to save your 1p though0

Do people still put in cash amounts of fuel?
I thought that went out with free whisky glasses
If the OP is so worried about the extra penny going in then they should aim for a penny short and let the garage give them change back.
Its not as if they have to find the 0.9 pence that the garages always seem to round the fuel price up to.0 -

Whilst you're following people around petrol stations and chucking at them, maybe consider the possibility that the person you're freaking out may be self employed and has a tax return to submit and a years worth of 40 quid receipts is easier to add up than a years worth of random numbers.
Anything that makes tax returns a bit less hassle has to be embraced!
You really shouldn't be doing your accounts once a year , you should be reconciling them as you goVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Do you think that all pumps at petrol stations should have a button to select an amount of fuel in multiples of £5.00 up to £20.00? The times Ive been into a station and and no how much I try I end up paying that extra couple of pence because of the sensitivity of the pump! I know they have this in Spain so why not in the UK?
Definitely the next PPI scam
Have you considered taking your case to the EHRC?0 -

I remember the dismay when petrol went above £1 a gallon for the first time. I can also remember the days of 2*, 3* and 4* petrol ( and paraffin dispensed from garage forecourt pumps ) - showing my age there !!
But £1/gallon? WAAAY before my time. I remember the litre/gallon conversion stickers from the early '80s...
1981, according to the Flickr page (and that bottom left corner). Thirty four years ago...0 -

Don't forget the one's that drive into the forecourt via the exit OR who stop at the first pump and block off 2 perfectly good pumps, causing tailbacks half a mile down the road!!!
I actually had one of these a few weeks ago, I followed her into the forecourt, she stopped at the first pump with me directly behind her, she goes to get out, looks directly at me, pauses and then carries on regardless. I drop it into reverse, drive around the petrol station (past the pumps that won't reach across my cars boot), reverse in front of her and then watch as she has to reverse and wait for someone else to move so she can leave, whilst im brimming my tank as slowly as possible
I'm thinking about putting the silly cow and her gormless face on Youtube.
AND finally, the one's that do the ENTIRE weekly shop before coming back to their car!
I HATE going to petrol stations, so I too prefer to fill up to the top and then forget it for the next 3 weeks.
The commuting car is a necessary evil, buying fuel cannot be avoided, so what is the point in trying to be frugal about it?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I fill up at the 24hr Asda station on the way to work at 5.30am. Not a sole in sight. Bliss.0
