Petrol Station Con?

The pumps at my local Tesco have exactly that feature, I can not recall the values you can select but they are there to be used.
I use these all the time with no issues.
£10 and £20 values are on there, as well as a button for x Litres. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Why is buying petrol any different than buying your usual food shopping. You wouldn't dream of walking around Tesco with your trolley trying to make it add-up to the rounded pound.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Do you think that all pumps at petrol stations should have a button to select an amount of fuel in multiples of £5.00 up to £20.00? The times Ive been into a station and and no how much I try I end up paying that extra couple of pence because of the sensitivity of the pump! I know they have this in Spain so why not in the UK?
The "extra" is purely because fuel is so expensive, back when it was 70p a litre, it was easy to get to an exact 1p because 1p worth of fuel was a lot more back then.
Me, I just hold the pump until it clicks, then pay on my debit card.
I really don't know what all the fuss is about............ I really don't understand these people who fill up £5 every couple of days, it's just stupid.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You have to learn the technique of tickling. Think of it as seduction of the fuel pump, gently caressing it til it arrives at your magic number.
Or simply brim it every time you go.0 -

Because, obviously, at about 750g/litre, having a bit less fuel in the tank of your 1.5t car is a HUGE difference...0 -
I think the logic is that they're saving weight, thereby fuel.

I think it's habit, I don't think THEY think at all.
Running with the tank so low on fuel is just asking for trouble, my brothers ex used to fill £3 a day, in 2 years she ran out of fuel no less than 8 times.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If I dont expect to use the car much I'll half fill, half a tank would save around 20kg so may have some tiny impact on fuel economy but also should some horror nick the car they will only get half as far
I pass the cheapest local garage at least twice a week and half a tank can last all month so no issues with extra trips.
Never fill to a price as I pay by CC and if you fill to the £ you stop at the minimum amount for that click of the meter, over a lifetime you could lose out on 100ml or more! of fuel, not very MSE!0 -
It isn't a con is it? I enjoy the challenge of trying to get it spot on the pound but if I miss, so what?"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Yes they should have £10 and £20 preset buttons. Also If I'm short on fuel and I'm passing an expensive place like Shell, I'll put £10 in then fill up later at Asda where it can be 6p a litre cheaper.0
