  • Happy birthday for yesterday Gemzie121!

cw16 - You can do this! Think of how great it will feel to finish those part used and LHJ items! Maybe you could group all of your shower gels together in one box, face products in another etc so they aren't so spread out which will make it easier to UU as you'll know where to find things!

At the moment all items that are already opened are under my washbasin, sorted by type as much as size/type of container will allow with the 'under sink' shelving I have in use. All unopened items are in boxes, again sorted by type. And the way I'm listing them in a spreadsheet should make it possible for me to pick out the container for whichever product I want with the least left in it, which should mean more UUs in the early days and less as time goes on :)

I just can't believe how long some things last. I found an already started tube of Simple Foaming Facial Wash which I started to use every morning back at the end of November - and it's still going strong. The same with a bottle of Simple moisturiser. And shower gels last forever, but I don't think I use as much as some people as the sample I used on Monday would have lasted me at least 2 (more likely 3) showers if I hadn't squeezed it all onto my sponge without watching more carefully !!

I've found some more samples, so they'll be going in the next few days - one shower gel that'll almost certainly do 3 showers, one shampoo, one conditioner, one day cream, one eye cream, one night cream, and a cleansing wipe (plus 2 meant for cleaning baby I shall use on me due to lack of a baby in the house ;))

UU Vaseline derma therapy spray deodorant (which I can't see on my list so I'll declare it as an in and an out at the same time lol). Did the job fine but I prefer the scent of other sprays I've tried. WMBA.

It was my birthday yesterday and I've got a load of beauty stuff to declare already , I've still got nearly all my presents to open so there could be more. I'll update my list when I've opened everything

Happy belated birthday wishes for yesterday. Looking forward to seeing your list.

My feelunique order is on its way. It only dawned on me last night that I could have waited until next month to order the cleanser as the voucher "won't go off". Am like a kid with spending money.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

A late HAPPY BIRTHDAY! from me as well, Gemzie. :bdaycake: I hope that you had a lovely day :D

cw18 - I don't know if this helps but I had a very similar experience. It's pretty shocking when you keep finding more stuff to UU! I recently gained another carrier bag full that I was blind to that had been cluttering up my parents under-sink cupboard. I also inherited the things that my Mum decided she'd never use  (I couldn't bear to see them binned...) I also use things up at a very slow rate but the rush of happiness when I finish something makes it all worthwhile :) Also, without the challenge you might not have discovered the extras and would have bought even more shower gel etc so you are saving money, even if it is all a bit daunting at the moment. (I too wish I could return lots of things!) The best thing the challenge has done for me is to stop me acquiring things at such a fast rate (I'm by no means perfect) but part of that change has happened because I've seen how long things last...The frustrating thing for me is all the skincare that I've wasted money on because it hasn't worked as advertised/as I hoped. I now think I've finally found my HG (HG = holy grail = Best Thing Ever) moisuriser which is great but it's the one thing I don't want to finish as I don't feel I can replace it until I've made some progress on the mountain of other moisturisers! (If it was cheap then I would but it's by Origins and is around £30 a pot :()

The only other thing I'd say is you don't have to finish your list if it's really getting you down. The most important thing is that you now know what you have and you have it organised by opened/unopened and type of product, so it really will get easier from here :)

I'm happy to be able to share some UUs at last (this is a slow month...)

Radox Nourish Handwash (300ml) - WNBA. Nothing wrong with the product but it had been sitting on the side of our sink for ages and looked horribly grotty. I'm so happy to see a little clear space where it sat! :rotfl: Also, I have lots of bar soaps that need to be UU.

Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream (5ml sachet) - the 5ml went a long way. WMBA if I needed a simple moisturiser to layer over serum/oil as it smelt gorgeous and was a pleasure to use. It's quite good value too as you buy a 60ml tube.

L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel (75ml) - WBA. This was part of a Christmas present and I adore the scent. It's beautiful! :) I might buy the perfume as a reward when I hit 100 UUs for 2015 (this is my 51st UU so I have a long way to go). Perfume is one of my most used things so I never feel it's going to be wasted.

Liz Earle Vanilla and Saffron body lotion (15ml) - WMBA as the texture is great and I liked the warm vanilla scent (it's more of a Winter scent to me.)

My WMBAs probably won't happen as I have such a big store of products to UU but all of my mini reviews would just say WNBA if I judged them by that! Maybe I should say Would Like To Buy Again Once I've Graduated! :rotfl:

    Thanks :)

It's not the adding them to the list that's getting me down (I'm keeping everything listed in a spreadsheet to remind me what I have even if I shut the cupboards doors / hide the boxes), it's discovering just how much money I've spent on them unnecessarily in the last ?? years. But I know I didn't spend much last year, and everything spent so far this year has been on carefully considered items (such as my lip salves).

Just finished going through / listing the second box I found yesterday, which wasn't quite as bad as I'd feared due to a few non-toiletry bits at the bottom of the box, some makeup (which I don't count) and a large but empty washbag.

I've discovered a few small decorative hand-made soaps I was gifted by a friend, and if I add one small novelty one I bought a few years ago I have enough to add 1 each to Christmas bags for my 4 GDs, my DD and my Mum ;)

Does anyone know if amost totally dried out baby wipes work as tumble dryer sheets? I haven't bought the latter in years (not since the novelty of them being a 'new thing' in the shops), but if the baby wipes work as an alternative I may as well use them instead of just throwing them out (I have several tubs and packs in that state!)

I feel this too at times so I try to sell stuff on Ebay - Have done ok over the last 3 months too. I haven't recovered what I have spent but instead of sitting at my cupboard, they are now sitting in my bank. Have a look at Facebook groups to sell unused items if you aren't familiar with Ebay. :)

I use eBay (actually using my monthly free listings for old kids toys / clothes and small non-breakable collectible type items), but can't quite bring myself to sell things at a loss without having had use out of them - and you can't use then sell toiletries the same as you can clothes and toys ;)

In any case my stuff's mostly low value to purchase in the first place, so people could buy from shops cheaper than even paying just postage (or probably even petrol to come and collect if I tried FB).

1 teeny-tiny UU this morning - a sample of Lac0ste touch of pink edt. 2 more of those to go. Not unpleasant, but not sure I'd buy (too expensive for an around the house everday scent).

Hi everyone! Have been busy since last month with college and moving jobs. My totals for last month were 45 uu (a lot of samples and one use items!) and 23 ins (including 12 nbi samples).

So far this month I have 18 uu and 10 ins, including palmers fake tan which I applied last night and have now turned a lovely shade of orange! Every year I get an urge to be tanned when the warmer weather arrives but have not yet found the right one for me. The closest I have come so far is the Caudalie divine legs, a wash off tint. Very natural looking but I wish it was not a wash off! At least I can use up some of my scrubs this evening trying to remove it.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely weather we have been having in the UK! :)
