The shed arrives on Tuesday I am getting very excited about it! The maze idea sounds good, do you think that would be a good way to allow them to get outside or would a hatch at the back be better?

I have a local feed merchant that I used to use for my horse so I will drop by there one day and see if they have bales in stock, just need to figure out the best place to store it??

Thank-you, I like to think Sparky is playing away good style somewhere........!

We now have 2 new baby piggies........my friend is in charge of the animals at our local park and brought us a basket with 4 piggies ao we could pick our favourite 2.

I picked my favourites, then my son came home from school and picked the same 2 as me, then DD1, DH and DD2 all arrived seperately.......and all chose the same 2! So these 2 little'uns are definetaly for us!

I'm feeling slightly disloyal, replacing Sparky so soon, but I couldn't bear looking at the empty space where he'd been, and it's obviously because we loved him so much that we can't bear the thought of having no guinea in our lives.

These new little piggies are beautiful and look very different to Sparky and I'm sure they'll have their own little characters just like he did. Now the only problem is choosing their names! :rotfl:
You'll make my day if I know I've been helpful to you in some small way,
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

Sorry to hear about your loss but I am glad that you have opened your home to two new piggies that will appreciate all the love and care you lavished on sparky.

I'd use a hatch for their access outside. Tube mazes are great but they should be checked everyday for blockages (they sometimes store food or just make a mess in them).

Can you put in a large shelf above the piggy area to store the hay? Kinda like a mini hayloft?

I feed mine the pets at home nuggets, usually by 10kg sack for about £18 I think it is, but they have the 4kg bags on 3 for 2 at the mo which I think works out cheaper, so I have ordered six to stock up!

Does anyone know if I would be as well insulating the shed or will it be warm enough if they have a house inside the shed to snuggle up in?

Personally I would give them some really warm cosy places within the shed e.g. box filled with hay and newspaper, and leave the shed as it is unless it is very draughty, as I would think it would be better ventilated if the shed was not insulated. If it is dry and not draughty it should be fine as-is imho.

Can we see a pic after you have finished Cavy Castle :)

It arrives tmrw and I am so excited! Now all I have to do is figure out how to put it together and how to make it level! Then the fun of decorating and laying out can begin!
