Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Logging SFD number 4/15 today.
The business hit a milestone as well. The first day since we reopened that we took over £200. Its almost done it a few times but today was almost £250 so almost another mile stone!
You can probably tell by now from my ramblings just how erratic the cash flow of my business is. But for now, I am ahead. My rent is paid. My bills are covered for now, & I have enough to buy new stock. I am very grateful for this.
£5 in tips today, am sorely tempted to go to the chip shop as Im knackered and have been cooking all day! But we have food here too....the dilemas....

sorry not posted in ages as been busy with kids over the holidays and then have a essay to be in next week.

Welcome back and good luck with the essay. I have no children but I'm a teacher, and the holidays are expensive just keeping myself entertained ;)

Hello all  I am back now for the rest of the month.

Have spent the entire day changing over my Winter and Summer wardrobes. I have far too many clothes and have put aside 40 items for charity (so far!). I can now admit to being a clothes hoarder- some of the items I realise I have had for over 13 years. And I'm 27 :o

Hope you all had a good Easter and a nice break, if you were able to.

Welcome back. Don't worry, I too had clothes that are more than a decade old and have only recently removed them to a charity shop or the bin when appropriate.

Well done on your takings Bob :j

Today was SFD number 10 for me also, well done on all the SFDs everyone :) Also did another LTW and went swimming after school after getting fed dinner for free :) I have been using up lots of bits and pieces for lunches this week - all based around a block of double Gloucester and chive cheese that I had stored in the freezer whilst on holiday (and originally was free as my sister had it leftover from a fuddle).

calling - ouch! Those ulcers flared up fast. Hope they subside.

bob - hang on a mo. You're getting a bike, but are pregnant! How long before you can't reach the handlebars, or lify your leg over without fallung over???

sazzle - you've made massive progress, switching and saving, and feeding yoirselves from stores (supplemrnted with a bit of greens!).

Today I am grateful for a good book, for hugs from dd, for successfully cooking a big ham thingy, for buttons, for coffee.

Ha ha Apple. I have been cycling for months. But because I wasn't working it was ok that we just had my husbands bike between us. He rides it to school then leaves it there. I was walking to school then cycling me and the boy home. Now I am back at the business I need a quicker means of transport to make the school pick up time of 3.20 as we don't close till 3.
I'm very keen not to go back to car use but as I end up fetching and carrying most days I have to have some kind of transport. At the moment I'm 4 months pg and have no bump at all. So I figure I'll be fine for at least a couple more months. Cost of a bike vs cost of a new car.....
I am considering investing in a cargo bike for when bubs arrives as it will be much more practical for us than a buggy. Buggies in London are a huge pain in the bleep. And that way we can continue cycling with our son.
There. Bet you wish you'd never asked :)

Bob - great news on your takings. Be careful on your bike - sounding like a worried mother here.

My breaking news massive ulcer under tongue is on the way down today, exactly where broken tooth spot is. Calling at chemist on way home to get something to ease the pain when eating. Need food to cheer myself up.

Other news useless British Gas engineer came out yesterday, managed to break pilot light holder on my boiler within 2 mins of being there, then try and sell me a new boiler. Round 2 today think I could be requesting a different engineer. So fed up last night, thinking if that goes, my debt busting dreams are in tatters. Grandson was having major tantrum to add to my horrid day.

Have a lovely weekend folks, not made any plans as yet.

  • Evening all! Bob, congrats on the takings milestone. Calling, I hope your ulcer continues to improve and that the pharmacist was helpful.
Today was another NSD, but I'm down in London AGAIN tomorrow (totally sick of it now!) because OH wanted to see a play, so will have to spend a little bit. Hoping to get away with only spending the £20 that I have in my purse currently, but we are going to have a look in the vegan cupcake shop down there so maybe not! OH has paid for hotel and trains and the theatre tickets though, because he wanted to go and I didn't!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

Calling - thank you I appreciate the kind words. I will be. Sorry to hear about the engineer breaking your boiler though, what an idiot. Hope they will fix it?

Academia - a vegan cupcake sounds interesting. I bake vegan items for the shop, but a cupcake has butter and eggs in it which is a bit of a challenge to replicate with non vegan items, the icing particularly. I wonder what they use instead? Do report back.

5th NSD which is pleasing. May still make the 15. Extremely busy over lunch we actually ran out of bread by 12.30 as I was doing lunch by 11! Lots of little children today who do tend to eat early. I handled it all fairly well except the last order wasn't up to my liking both time wise and content so I offered a round of drinks which they accepted. They were all fine about it anyway but I do think good service is important for repeat trade.
One of the local mums has approach me about evening hire for PTA meetings which I am delighted about as I want to do more on the space hire side as I've mentioned before.
A bumper tips today. There was £8 in there when I counted up. So gave that to my son for his money box.
Anyway hope everyone has a good weekend.

calling - hope the ulcer continues to improve and hope round 2 with the engineer went better?

academia - I wish my OH wanted to do something exciting and would pay for a hotel etc, I'm lucky if I get the occasional chocolate bar.

bob - glad you had another good day, hope you've treated yourself to a bath ;)

Today has been a spendy day. There is going to be a little spare in the food budget this month so OH and I had fish and chips for tea :) Tomorrow I will do the final food shop, which will only be a few bits and pieces.

LTW too and did more tutoring, so now I'm £61 off being below 5k. Fingers crossed for the boiler calling - I'm constantly worried something is going to break and stop me getting there. I know I need a new cam belt on my car so will get that done with the MOT in November but that'll be expensive. I've just had an offer of some work during my summer holiday, I would love a long summer break but just need to think of the money this year.

How are we all doing on our 3 resolutions? So far I have had my multi vitamins most days, exercised once so far this week (another session tomorrow) and moisturised several times a week but not exfoliated at all. Must work on this.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and are keeping up the spring cleaning.

Today I am grateful for finding a pink gingham-style shirt for bunny-making, for lavender, for a day with dh, for a visit from my big sister, for clearing stuff out of the house.

    Dear all,

Checking in, been lurking all week. Well done you guys, such inspirational stuff.

Mainly I have been freaking out about stuff all week, but I have managed to get a 0% credit card and am going to do a shuffle when it comes and I have done my projective planning (which I am doing this morning) for these 6-8 weeks I am only going to be working part-time. I am going to need some cashflow I don't actually have cash for.

I am pretty terrified about all the changes that are going to happen in the next 2 weeks, I am taking a risk, but I really need to - I have been in a real comfort zone, but a not nice one, a one that doesn't fit with my values and goals - so I have to!

I have though taken my lunch to work every day and had 3 NSD's this week.

I have an interview on Monday for a bit of a cash cow - so fingers crossed, it would be reassuring to know I have that in the bag for mid-end of June. Otherwise I am going to have to do something diferent, join an agency or soemthing.

Looking forward to joing the challenge for real in May. Is there some rolling rules and some fresh each month?
