    What you think is nonsense.
And neither 3 nor EE has low speed where the signal is good.
For the record, 3 let me out of my contract early last month without charge, because even in the centre of Taunton, with 5 bars of signal, data speeds hadn't reached over 0.2mbps since November.

Much happier on BT (EE) now, with 20Mbps plus.

Given that you've not moved to / from GG then not entirely relevant.
Giff Gaff are a dog of a provider on dog of a network (02).

Are they really slow for data? I use data more than anything else, and try to avoid slow data speeds. They use the 02 network, and having already a phone running on a tesco sim running on the same network, I would have thought that the data speed would be the same. And their system crash regularly?
I have eliminated 3 as I read they have quite slow speed, they are using EE I think?
Sainsburys use the vodafone network, I have been with vodafone for a long time, I have moved one phone from them, still have one phone with them, but try to move it from them too as I only had bad customer service and regular data speed drops, plus overcharging for data on PAYG.

Don't assume beacuse giffgaff uses O2 it data will perform the same because it wont.

Giffgaff data is generally slow to unusable especially during the day and there are thousands of posts from unhappy customer about it. So many complaints it even hit industry news a few months back - http://www.mobilenewscwp.co.uk/2014/08/08/giffgaff-users-slam-poor-quality-service/

In terms of general network performance this link provides an idea of how they compare nationally for calls, texts and data. Remember that virtual networks (MVNO's) may not perform as well especially for data as the host MNO due to bandwidth limitations.
