Giffgaff were not good for data for me, pretty much unusable in fact.
EE and 3 are regarded as much better, i would agree from experience. 3 uses its own network, not EE.

I have eliminated 3 as I read they have quite slow speed, they are using EE I think?
    What you think is nonsense.
And neither 3 nor EE has low speed where the signal is good.

Ok, not using EE, but wasn't sure about it anyway, thus the question mark.

This is not what I think, it's what I read.

If 3 has lower download speed than Vodafone, it will be pretty useless in my area.
And their call centre seems to be in India. That's bad.

Are they really slow for data?

    Yes, utter cack.

    I left them for Three.

Well, for your area the average speeds across UK are pretty much irrelevant.

Giffgaff don't have any call centre at all. If CS is that important (why?), you have very little choice. Tesco maybe? O2?
  • The Ofcom article is interesting but perhaps requires interpretation.

"3" gives 4G (or their 4G which I understand is more of an evolution from 3G than some other networks) without any additional charge.

The other networks keep 4G as a "premium" service in some way.

I've found "3" good for data speeds and probably the best of the 3G networks for PAYG data.

For pure data, some of the EE PAYG deals are excellent at the moment.

The problem with giffgaff is that they don't get as good a service with data as the host (o2) network. The bundles may suit you however.

I've never really found any problems with data on giffgaff. I'm able to stream videos no problem as long as I have a 3G connection.

I've not experienced any data problems with GG either and have had no problems at all with their service, very good value for money.

I alerted GG to a possible fraud (as I used to work as a fraud investigator for one of the other networks) and they could even be bothered to reply. From that I'll never touch them.

I could barely open a web page on GG. Remember GG get a lower priority than O2 themselves on the masts. this has an impact when masts are busy and need to dump connections.
