Is GiffGaff good for pure PAYG and help?
I have a giffgaff sim card, and was wondering if they are good for PAYG without bundles, and if you take a bundle do they automatically renew or do you have to go online and renew yourself?
If you have a problem, is the help provided useful or is it a bit of a problem compared to companies who have a dedicated call centre?

In effect the users supply the help .
Always found it easy enough to get questions answered .
You can setup auto renew see the web site .0 -
Giffgaff only offers value for money if you use their bundles as other networks, like Three and Delight, offer cheaper standard PAYG rates than giffgaff: http://mobilenetworkcomparison.org.uk/compare/
Giffgaff doesn't renew bundles automatically unless you set it to auto-renew via your online account. Their website offers help guides and has a message board like this one which members use to seek help. This system seems to work for the majority of its members and I believe there is an option to message a giffgaff agent via your online account if you have a more complex problem.0 -
If your usage suits their bundles and you want the coverage that o2 offers (good in rural areas but perhaps less good at data coverage and speed) then giffgaff can be good.
http://www.paygdeal.co.uk/ is worth a look for comparison.0 -
When you get a new sim card, how long do you have to use it before they block the card?0

Why would they block it if you use it?0

Thanks, that's exactly what I meant.:)0

Giffgaff are awful.
Their systems crash regularly and their data speeds are sloooow.
Try 3 PAYG, Tesco Mobile or Mobile by Sainsbury'sThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
GiffGaff is fine for pure PAYG, though not as cheap as the likes of Three. It does have the advantage of free GG to GG calls though.Stompa0

Are they really slow for data? I use data more than anything else, and try to avoid slow data speeds. They use the 02 network, and having already a phone running on a tesco sim running on the same network, I would have thought that the data speed would be the same. And their system crash regularly?
I have eliminated 3 as I read they have quite slow speed, they are using EE I think?
Sainsburys use the vodafone network, I have been with vodafone for a long time, I have moved one phone from them, still have one phone with them, but try to move it from them too as I only had bad customer service and regular data speed drops, plus overcharging for data on PAYG.0
