...and the funniest sentence we will probably ever hear in our house, which broke the terribly sad atmosphere when we saw the tracking info and had had a discussion on personal delivery in the future was:
"Well I couldn't have been in New York for Madonna tomorrow anyway as I have to be in London with Billie Piper the next day!

SNIP.... it does say if its not picked up by 16:30 it won't meet the aircraft!
UPS suggest dropping off at the UPS facility.
When the UPS driver came at 3pm without the paperwork, we rang UPS explaining the whole situation and the urgency. They said that if the driver picked up by 6pm the parcel would meet the aircraft. He came around 5.45pm with the labels completed and stuck one copy on the parcel.
If the pick up had been correctly carried out at 3pm we would have checked its progress out of the local depot as we had the manager's direct phone line by then.
As said before apart from the refund, UPS have now paid £100 compensation and made a big apology. It seems that the driver did not hand in the paperwork correctly even though he had arrived back in time for the parcel to get on the flight dispatch and people were specifically waiting for this at the depot.

I remember seeing your post, but can't remember what it said. It certainly didn't strike me as being offensive in any way.0
