Two years old (!) but it doesn't seem right to start a new thread as it's all relevant discussion about JL price matching.

JL state that the retailer has to be “a high-street shop, and is not online only (we don't match online-only or mail order businesses such as Amazon, ASOS or AO.com) You'll also need to take into account costs relating to Fitting and installation charges, Delivery charges, Warranty charges”

I've never had an issue getting JL to price match other bricks & mortar stores. Did you have any particular shop in question?

No particular shop but wondering if there are any bricks and mortar stores as very few now exist. Just thought some online stores (other than the few high profile ones) might have retail shops.

I got JL online to price match a Panasonic TV with an offer that was available in store at Sainsburys, but it was a struggle and involved me making an executive complaint - I think they paid up in the end because their terms were not entirely clear.

That's not good, Sainsbury being a national high street store.

The TV I'm looking at is for a replacement under warranty. I've chosen to upgrade and pay more than the model offered but my choice is available £150 cheaper online which is a big difference even accounting for the JL warranty.

JL's price match is poor. Sometimes worth it for the warranty but they do lie and obfuscate and throw their toys about at times.

I never understand their "We're matching another retailers promotion.." Why not just do something original rather than tagging on the back of someone elses idea? It smacks of "We're pricematching because we have to." It's resorting to a chavvy way of retailing.

There is a place (well 4 actually - stores in Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster & Harrowgate) called Crampton and Moore

    https://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk

They are one of the largest Independent Electrical retailers in the North of England. :T

They also have the LG 50UH635V advertised at £479 :j

    https://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/lg-50uh635v-50-inch-smart-4k-hdr-pro-ultra-hd-tv.html

    BUT

    currently out of stock.
    :(:(

Whether they are getting more or if they will be at the same price is another matter - but probably worth a phone call ...

    SCRUB THAT !!!

A live CHAT BOX has just popped up - I'LL ASK :D

Chatted with RICHARD at the DONCASTER store (01302 365760)

NO MORE available - it is a DISCONTINUED model

I asked "Is there a replacement equivalent model ?"

Richard: "There is no replacement for this model as of yet. But the closest model available now is the LG 49UH770"

Richard:"Price of this model is £579 with a free 5 year warranty it also comes with free delivery"

    I thanked him :T

Must admit IT LOOKS GOOD

So perhaps you should be looking for this model instead ?

Thank you so much for all your help. It reminded me that I had heard of Crampton and Moore from previous TV purchases. However we have to buy from JL as they’re replacing our faulty TV and unfortunately do not sell the replacement model you mention.

It’s helpful to know the LG 50UH635V is discontinued and makes me even less inclined to pay over the odds for it at JL. Sadly the best value models they have are all “out of stock” which they inform me more accurately are discontinued. C&M don't have any of the other possibilities.
