Simple thing is your 2k isn't a quantifiable loss.

I guess that's why neither of us is a loss adjuster.

  • have been getting text and a missed call from his insurance company.
They want to repair car and provide a courtesy car.
Whats the advantage of going through them direct? and not a claim company?

You won't pay any excess and liability isn't disputed.

+1. The OP should check whether they have legal expenses cover with their car or house insurance as this may cover it (though some may have exclusions if you were driving the car or owner of the car).

Having just gone through the experience of being slammed into broadside by a drunk van driver (3x the limit) at high speed, I just want to add to the debate that compensation isn't just about how much money you lost because of the accident. Sure there are some money-grubbing ambulance chasers, but not everyone who seeks financial restitution for a no-fault accident is simply trying to scam the system.

Funny how I was rear ended before and me (driver) and 2 other passengers were not injured and didn't claim.

In the long run it helps keep premiums down as claim firms don't do it for nothing.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    I'm not seeing the joke.

Was the other car going at 40 mph, the wrong way up a one-way street? Was your car hit so violently that it was turned around 90 degrees? Was a good 25% of the vehicle missing following the collision? Were you put on a backboard and taken by ambulance to A&E?

Thought not. I'm not sure why you would post something like this. I'm sure if your accident was similar to the one described above you would be singing a different tune.

If only you realised how complicit uk insurers are in capturing injury claims themselves to pass onto the law firm they own.

The increase in injury claims in the UK is squarely to do with the claims capture point, not people responding to TV ads etc.

Trouble is, the insurers are silent on this and very successful in playing the martyr and getting the press to just regurgitate their tripe and then everyone believes the nonsense that it is all down to claims management companies.

Most people call their insurers after a smack. A lot of the time they are not even speaking to their insurer or broker, but a call centre run by a law firm or claims company who deal with the capture for the insurers.

Standard practice for any neck or back complaint and gives no indication of the severity of an injury.
