You never say yes and frankly I never say yes but I can assure you it does actually work. The question if done properly is asked by the assistant while they are scanning what you have already bought and doesn't waste any time, so if just one person in a hundred says yes it's extra profit.
Err, yes, but what if it annoys 2 or 3 in a hundred enough that they use a different store next time?

The major stores don't do this without the proper approach, the figures are looked at to see if any new system is a financial benefit to the company. Anything that doesn't work is removed. As I said earlier we did it very successfully and it was a single newsagent.
    It's someone else's fault.

LOL, I can see where your problem lies.

You're not actually reading posts, properly.

Clue: It wasn't my post that flew straight over your head. :rotfl:

These shops that upsell stuff at the till. Have they noticed a decrease in customers and/or sales? Sales after the crap at the till

Many of my friends and myself hardly set foot in these shops on principle.

I still think how on earth WHSmith still running as everything is a rip off.

The damn Post Office is most annoying, as they almost corner the market in posting.

I queued for half an hour today, eventually able to send my passport off 'track and send' for a visa.

The clerk then said, 'We're trying to save customers money today'
At my blank look, she added' On your phone Bill'

Every little 'offer' like this takes time, adding to the flipping queue.

Sam Fallow suggested someone damage a terminal. I suggested that would be criminal damage.
Not entirely sure why that's so difficult.

That's one time I can see their point.

It's not the first time I've heard them ask "is that a meal?", the reply is " no" then the customer asked for a drink and fries.

    People are idiots.
