Goodness me such a lot of answers & to be honest quite a few sarcastic ones. My intention was to vent anger my mum never received an apology from anyone concerned, lots of oh dears but no sorry this happened. Compensation has never been mentioned by my parents nor by me, if this was the case they wouldn't have gone to the agents aftercare, there are many no win no fee ads to choose from. I simply did not put all the facts as I wanted to sound off...this is the correct forum for that. Confusing to some maybe but I am sure if I waffled the whole story someone would have said you are in the wrong forum. Finally I would like to add, none of you know my mum & also what she went through, so please don't offer sarcastic answers it really wasn't necessary. Yes it was an unfortunate accident but I found some of the replies a little hurtful & disrespectful.

Hang on, do you not understand how the concept of fault works? People say sorry when they've got something wrong, that then means they're giving a strong suggestion they're liable. But how can a third party be liable for your mum randomly tripping over a table?

Have you asked the table to apologise for being in the position that it was in?

I don't think anyone intended to be hurtful, but like others I am genuinely bemused that you would expect a travel company to apologise for the position of a coffee table.

If they apologised it might be taken as a sign that they accepted they'd done something wrong, and risked being sued. So they won't ever apologise. Such is life unfortunately.

I appreciate you wanted to vent OP, but the reason why you have received NO apology has been succinctly given above & was post #2.

From that point onwards I don't think you should be surprised that readers suspect 'compensation' is what was actually meant by the word 'apology'.

I fell downstairs at work & shattered my wrist, the company never said 'sorry'. I didn't expect them to & wasn't annoyed.........it was an ACCIDENT.

To not let this go does just smack of the compensation culture I'm afraid, but I hope your vent has helped.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

But WHY would the travel agent apologise for something that was an accident (an accident they weren't in any way involved it at that)?
I don't understand why this is so important to you or your parents, accidents happen and if no one is to blame why should any apologies be necessary?
