I find big businesses rarely apologise. It's a fact.
By your post though , which may be lacking detail, I do find it difficult to pin the blame on anyone . It does seem to have been an accident , so although you are angry , again I can't see why.
Is it not the case that any customer could have moved the coffee table?0 -
Also confused. First it was too close to a chair now it was hidden around a corner0

This is probably in the wrong forum but I am angry! My elderly parents went on holiday abroad last year which resulted in my mum fracturing her wrist 2 days into her holiday. All because the coffee table had been moved too close to the chair so my mum went around the corner straight into the table, fracturing her wrist when she fell. This was in June 2014. Travel ins didn't want to know...you need to speak to the hol company..they did...provided evidence, etc have been incredibly patient as it is now March 2015, all for the hol company to say no liability...it was an accident! Now I don't agree this is true, but ok if you accept this it sure doesn't explain why it has taken 9 months to get this conclusion...& they have done all the chasing...with them saying yeah it will be done within 6 months, yes by feb, ooh one more piece of evidence needed, a decision will be made by next week...hey ho letter came today. I feel disgusted that both the hotel & hol company think they cannot offer an apology to my parents whose holiday was totally ruined by this, but carried on with a mentally disabled daughter with them, as there was little more they could do. Again sorry this is prob in the wrong forum, but it said vent so I have! Why did the travel insurance company reject the claim?Wealdroam, My mum has the letter so I can't remember exactly but I think the letter said that it was deemed 'an accident' The coffee tables situated close to the chairs wasn't unusual in a hotel. I am sorry I don't remember much more, all I can hear is how upset mum was..
When you say 'travel ins didn't want to know' do you mean that they refused to pay for treatment for your Mum's broken wrist?
Or are you just looking for somebody/anybody to apologise to your parents for the location of the coffee table?0 -
Compensation culture seems the issue here.
If the insurance is saying it was an accident they should pay out for the treatment but no compensation.0 -
Are you saying that if one of the organisations manages to say "I'm sorry your mother walked round a corner, did not see a table & fell over it breaking her wrist", you'll be wholly satisfied?Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0

I think the OP's posts are very confusing.
It's difficult to determine exactly what she is trying to achieve.Again sorry this is prob in the wrong forum, but it said vent so I have!
If all she wants is to have a vent, that's fine.
But if she wants help or advice she needs to provide a lot more information.0 -
Insurance companies work at their own sweet pace, which seems to be even slower if there is a dispute regarding liability.
Some years ago I was rear-ended on the motorway in the first week in July. Should have been cut and dried - I had photos of the vehicle that hit me, two independent witnesses in another car, yet I only received my excess back 2 days before Christmas.
Husband was in a car accident last July and as of last week the claim still hasn't been settled.
Sadly 9 months doesn't actually seem to be that unusual.0 -
Goodness me such a lot of answers & to be honest quite a few sarcastic ones. My intention was to vent anger my mum never received an apology from anyone concerned, lots of oh dears but no sorry this happened. Compensation has never been mentioned by my parents nor by me, if this was the case they wouldn't have gone to the agents aftercare, there are many no win no fee ads to choose from. I simply did not put all the facts as I wanted to sound off...this is the correct forum for that. Confusing to some maybe but I am sure if I waffled the whole story someone would have said you are in the wrong forum. Finally I would like to add, none of you know my mum & also what she went through, so please don't offer sarcastic answers it really wasn't necessary. Yes it was an unfortunate accident but I found some of the replies a little hurtful & disrespectful.0
