what is to stop non eu airlines now saying that they wouldn't do a through ticket anymore so if you have a stop on the way to your final destination they change the flight number so it's a different flight number even though it would be the same aircraft.0

I'm not really sure what you're suggesting. Changing a flight number is irrelevant, the new(ish) ruling concerns connections on different flights anyway. If you're suggesting that non-eu airlines could stop selling protected connections then that is highly unlikely as they would lose a lot of business on that account.0 -
I think justice is suggesting they operate like Jet2, Ryanair etc with just point to point flights, no connections offered but available as separate flight purchases? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

What JPears said probably didn't explain it to well. But it is possible they could go down that route0

True, but I am sure the airlines will find some devious way around it.
EJ, Jet2 Ryanair etc etc all manage quite well with point to point bookings even though people make connecting flights. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Because their business is built around point-to-point, unlike traditional network airlines like Emirates. I'm sure BA has a much higher percentage of p2p traffic into London than Emirates has into Dubai and it's not like BA have stopped selling protected connections due to EU261.0

Response from Emirates..........not very personalised, but a response
Dear Customer
We acknowledge receipt of your e-mail and we will respond once we have reviewed your original claim.
Please be advised that due to current high volumes we cannot give you a specific time frame.
Thank you for your patience

Give 'em 3 weeks max. The send NBA.
They have already had you claim and all the relevant details and that should be on file? If not and they have removed your claim/data, serve them right for being so arrogant.
They will most likely procrastinate, obfuscate and delay. High volumes is not a reason. They should make provision, knowing that they were refused leave to appeal.
Don't let them mess you around. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
