Sorry if this is an inappropriate post here. I am feeling completely sick; I bought my 21 year old son breakdown cover through what I assumed was Greenflag as he left home to work away last august. His battery was flat on mother's day when he was coming home so he rang Greenflag. They couldn't find him registered but I asked them to call out anyway thinking there was some mistake. It now transpires that his Breakdown Insurance was with Green Insurance not Greenflag so the call out will be £108.Any advice please?

    1. Start your own thread.
    2. Pay GreenFlag £108 as you used a service from them.

It's just another way of describing a trading name. The legal entity is QDOS Insurance Services Limited but that company may have several business activities so Breakdown Assist will be one trading name and if hypothetically they had a locksmiths business they could have business name of Break In Assist. It's all perfectly normal and legal.

Should have called out your Green Insurance breakdown cover and not the Green Flag. How is it Green Flag's fault. Looks like you will need to pay up.

Sorry elfina - I agree - all you can do is pay Green Flag and make sure that your son has a note of the correct number for Green Insurance next time.

Pay for the service you used, and allow your adult son to stand on his own two feet in future.

    SAGA, over 50s insurance.

I have just purchased my house & contents ins for £88 & saga have given me 2 FREE breakdown cover, not bad eh!, if your old enough, you could still do it for your son.

    My car and the wife's.

    1. I never said it was Greenflags fault
    2. It was me who told my son to ring Greenflag as it was ME who purchased the breakdown cover for his 21st Birthday. It can hardly be classed as over indulging my adult son, wouldn't you be advising YOUR relatives if they 'phoned you up for advice?
    3. OF COURSE we will pay for the service we used
    4. Hardly worth starting a new thread, just wondered if anyone had any helpful suggestions. Sadly not :rotfl:

Ah, so the "advice" was "What are you phoning me for? You've got breakdown cover, remember?"
    3. OF COURSE we will pay for the service we used

OK, great. So what was the question?

Oh dear, I seem to have ruffled a few feathers ! Thank you for the lovely comments, I have taken them on board and if anyone ever rings me to ask me a question that I should know the answer to I shall say "What are you phoning me for, you may be stuck in the middle of nowhere but I will not give you any advice as to who to ring as you should know even though I haven't already told you"
YES I get that this is my fault entirely, was looking for some friendly support but to no avail. If you think I am that stupid why bother commenting ?
