Yo! I'm taking on the weekly thread if that's ok (I've PM'd Glad and been given the thumbs up) - gimme a bit to get it sorted :) I don't normally do weeklies so will have to have a crack at them all - any advice/suggested changes gratefully accepted

Back to mums point can't all weeklies be put to main then collated so you can choose how you do them? The whole original thing was everything went onto main and then got collated wherever need be.

Or have I missed something? which is prob the case x

The majority use main, the ones that do use weeklies could easily tell if they have done them from main, if people put weekly in title as they do daily it would make it clear to those that use reg board and circumvent that issue.

With a "weekly" volunteer perhaps it would be a good time to settle what weeklies get posted on the main board.

I do not see why they are not all posted on the main board regardless of if there is an overall end date for the competition or not (the thread in regulars being an additional listing for the convenience of those who use it)

My twopennorth from looking at the existing weeklies thread and trying to update a new one - there's no consistency and without it some people will miss out one way or another.

I'm more than happy to maintain the thread BUT
    1. Lots of the threads on the weekly forum aren't updated
    2. Lots of weeklies aren't on weekly forum at all

I've got to say I've never used the weekly thread but that was because it was out of date. I don't know if that is an outcome of the thread not being updated OR people not using it.

Maybe time for a vote and throw it open to the board? Like I said happy to update but if the threads aren't getting updated and are going on the main board then there seems little point. I'm happy to maintain the first few posts of the thread, I haven't got time to trawl through the board and find everything that is a weekly.

Each individual weekly competition has an end-date, it maybe part of a series that runs for say 6 months or doesn't have an ultimate finish date but that shouldn't matter if it is being posted weekly as the overall finish date is irrelevant for each individual weekly competition. So is there any reason why they should not all be posted on the main board if people post them there?

They could also be on the weekly thread as some people like to comp from that and if a competition doesn't get posted on main one week the ongoing part would still be in regulars.

I'm happy for all weeklies to be on the main board as long as they are posted as a new thread each week so end daters don't miss out :) so all the ones currently in the regs board will need someone to post them up every week

thanks. I think most are aren't they? Can't be sure though as I find it a bit confusing! If there are any that aren't, I'm happy to post them each week.

I use the daily thread from time to time and do find it useful, so I'd like to see that stay whether it be on its own board or just in its own sticky.
However I never use/d the weekly thread, ever.
The majority of weekly comps are either eg. every Monday and last for one week, or eg. every Monday and only live for that day. Either way, I think they should all be on the main board with the relevant end date.
For example, I post up the weekly Patisserie Valerie treatbox competitions. I post them every Tuesday morning, with that day's date as the Expiry date and in brackets 8pm, as that's what time it expires. I think most compers prefer to see this, and similar types of, competition on the main board. It regularly gets around 400-500 views, whereas on the weekly thread it was difficult to find and often went unseen.
Similarly, KatieL posts up the weekly Wallis and Dorothy Perkins FB / TW giveaways, with an end date of that day, and these get a great many views and thanks so we know people are seeing them, which again they wouldn't if they were tucked away on the weekly thread / regulars board.

Sorry I'm waffling but in short I agree with those who have said: weeklies, whether they run for a day or a week, should all go on the main board every week. Dailies although obviously they should be posted on the main, should still be linked to a daily thread that we can refer to.

    :)

Would it be helpful if instead of starting a new weeklies thread I went through and found any ones that were still live that weren't being posted on the main board? Then someone could pick them up and we'd make sure they weren't missed? I found a couple last night that I wasn't aware of which don't appear to have ever hit the main board
