Lots of parents just make the child go just to say they are in grammar they are the ones I don't agree with but each to heir own
Couldn't agree more, a school is not for ego, we must do what is best for children every time. There was no way my eldest could have coped with grammar at the time, she is very bright but has autism and it would have been too challenging for her. The secondary she attends really has championed her all the way through so far, I can't sing their praises enough. My dd2 was advised by us to just do the same ( I hate how cut throat and competitive the whole transfer is) but she was adamant she wanted to to BRA so we let her. I'm still not sure grammar is for her, she is excruciatingly laid back in the morning and so disorganised, andi certainly won't be coaching her all the way through, but I'll be here to help as I am with dd1...... Not that I'll be much of it come trigonometry :rotfl:
Education is not all about grades, it is just as much about churning out a well balanced, happy and secure young adult at the end of it0 -

How many choices can you put some say three some four
I've also heard people putting the same school three times0 -

There were 5 places on the form and it advises a minimum of 4 with at least 1 secondary. I really struggled with this for dd1 as she was for one school only and was definitely going to get in so I put the secondary of choice then next closest secondary schools I hated the least.0 -
Please could anyone help or advice. DS got D in gl transfer am hoping to go down SC route he was getting high 90s even 100 % in practice papers. His standardised score last year were 100 and 109 are these high enough to prove academic level GS he wants to attend take b2s . Tia0

Not sure. My dd got 118 nina and 116 nila or vice versa, and she got 104 in aqe. She too was getting 100% in some papers and at least 90% by the end! but then the tests do get a bit repetitive as she was able to say she had done some of the comprehension before lol. My dd teacher said 100 for government tests isn't someone she would put through the aqe but he did get 109 in one of them so I'm not sure tbh. A d to a b2 is a bit of a jump for them to make, I only know about the aqe and I think it's only a few points get awarded, like maybe 3 which is nowhere near a grade and a half. What does the teacher think?0 -
Hi jillow my DS got 113 PIE and 115 PIM he got a B1 in the gl and 102 in AQE. I would have to agree it quite a big jump from a D to a B2 but no harm speaking to your principal and see what they say. Good luck0

Sc only award Max of five points do it wouldn't bring him to c1 even
You could go secondary for year and do 12+ test to transfer ...0 -
Thanks for replying. He's very bright school tutor and ourselves are extremely shocked about result he was predicted a or b. He got very nervous towards the end we had to stop all homework, tests and tutor in late September . Last session with tutor he was so anxious he was in tears. He's whole school drop standardised test this year and we were told not to worry. Previous year he was 120 115. Am sick with the whole situation as he worked so hard. We didn't attend doctor etc so have no medical prof. So am really undecided on whether to try and pursue SC are if we don't stand a chance. School has gone down hill recently and are under inspection. Sorry for gate crashing was just wanting to see had anyone any experience or advice..0
