Typing while walking is not a good idea loli meant this is why we choosing secondary with a grammar pass0

This is why we are choosing secondary route rather than grammar even though ds passed both exams and can get to grammar . I'd rather him be able to over achieve than have parents coach him at home that shouldn't be the case if you are in grammar ( coming from grammar j can say that )
Choose the school that suits your child's strengths even if they have a pass because there is nothing worse than sitting knowing you can't do something and maybe shouldn't be there
After all what's the difference come 5th year at GCSEs results no one cares what school you went to
This whole process is a joke and I can also say that because my ds has completed test and passed but wants to over achieve rather than just get by that to me means alot more than heading off to school in a grammar uniform

Currently have dd in p5 and heavily debating if she will be doing the transfer at all0 -
just wondering does anyone feel the results were higher this year or similar to last year. I have heard a lot of high scores unfortunately my DD wasn't one of them. Just curious :-)0

Scores are a distribution around the average which is 100, so it's unlikely they are dramatically different (statistically speaking) from previous years.0 -

My husband and I wouldn't have gone the grammar route with an 80's score either, for the exact same reasons that you're not. I'd rather she went somewhere she shone bright than somewhere she would be overwhelmed and struggle. Tbh had she not gotten over the 100 she was going to the local secondary....it's actually a very very good school and my eldest LOVES it there.
I should add though, I also went to grammar and my dad had to help a bit with trigonometry and I don't think there's any shame in that or that it is coaching....just my daddy helping when I struggled a bit, which is all others are saying on this thread about parental input helping at grammar I think....not coaching all the way through as like you said, if they get the 100 or more needed for most of the grammar schools ( any we would have been applying to have it as the minimum usually) then they shouldn't be overwhelmed throughout. Hopefully we will have a fairer system in place before your p5 child and my p3 child get to p7!!0 -
Well I'm going with my gut he's done the test he has the option for grammar but he will thrive in his chosen secondary a lot better
Lots of parents just make the child go just to say they are in grammar they are the ones I don't agree with but each to heir own 0 -
