  • Fairplay The Pontypridd Branch Did A Great Job On My Brothers Motability Car, Way Better Than P & R Motors In Merthyr.

They Collected His Car On A Flat bed and Brought it back on a flat bed.

I arranged it all for my brother so I know all about the car and how it was handled. I don't know about their courtesy cars mind as we didn't have one RSA had to get one from National Car Hire Due To Me and My Brother need adaptions too drive. To be honest The only problem throughout the whole thing was National Car Hire giving us a un road worthy Ford Galaxy Which back brakes had gone so I had them to change the car.
  • UPDATE:

Insurance assessors looked at the vehicle, was not impressed backed up what I have spotted and made a written report for RSA which will get to them tomorrow so by Monday RSA will contact me about what they intend to do with this.

This is turning out to be a nightmare.
  • Good luck with it....i've had a total nightmare with the Liverpool branch & my motability skoda yeti, on the vehicles return (they had it a week for some light rear side repair thanks to someone hitting me in a carpark and doing a runner) the car was in a worse state than it started..along with some pretty nasty scratches across the bonnet that hadnt been there previously and some god awful paint finish on the inside rear door they supposedly had "repaired"

they seemed to pass me from one person to the next till I left a review here

now since posting most of the cars issues are sorted along with a goodwill gesture for the hassles

I Would give it time as the review if freshly submitted as of 10 mins ago.

Nationwide had come here and commented but you have to have special permission to be a company representative so their post was duly deleted. No idea if they have requested to be a company rep here and reply in the future if permission is granted.
  • Hi everyone,

Nationwide Repairs have asked us to post this reply on their behalf. Please note MSE does not endorse anything posted by third parties.

I am posting on behalf of Nationwide Crash Repair Centres Ltd.
I have received a comprehensive report from the manager of our Newport centre regarding the repairs carried out to your vehicle and the issues you have raised. I would like to stress that I am merely providing our view of the situation and do not wish to cause any upset or enter into a debate on the matter.
The courtesy car issued was a standard vehicle in accordance with your insurance policy. If we had been able to provide you with an alternative vehicle that was within your policy limits then we would have been happy to do so.

There was a small amount of bodywork damage to the courtesy car but this was cosmetic only and did not affect the usability, handling or safety of the vehicle. The fuel light was not on and the fuel level was adequate. You were advised that the vehicle would require re-fuelling at some point and this is quite normal. Your vehicle was driven directly to and from the centre. The round trip for collection and drop off of the vehicle is in fact 36 miles. Two geometry checks were also carried out which would have added at least another 2 miles.

We should have added fuel as promised and unfortunately did not do this. This was simply an oversight and we apologise for this and can assure you that it was not deliberate. We found only 2 fish eyes which were rectified. We found no evidence of scratches in the base coat of the passenger door jam, the fuel filler flap edge or the C pillar. The “thin white paint dribble” was actually a light scratch which we polished out for you. We also found no evidence of a finger print and there was no bare metal. Your second courtesy car was swapped as soon as you advised us that there was an issue with the clutch.

However, after a full investigation we have found the clutch to be perfectly ok and the vehicle has been used since with no issues whatsoever. We have arranged for an independent inspection to be carried out on your vehicle prior to it being delivered back to you so that we can be confident that the repairs have now been carried out to a satisfactory standard.

If you do wish to discuss the matter in more detail please contact the centre directly, as they have all the information to hand and are keen to ensure your satisfaction with the repairs and service they have provided. Thank you.

Pretty sure we've already heard this rubbish from Nationwide! Sounds like the OP is going to get the result they wanted in the end but they shouldn't have had to go through all the rigmarole in the first place.

If Nationwide want to continue to bury their heads in the sand fair enough but just re-posting the guff they've already spouted is doing them no favours.

    Idiots.

    Well.

I called my insurance company for more information.

Nationwide didn't request for my insurers assessors to take a look at my car, nationwide were TOLD by my insurers to PAY for an independent inspection.

The inspector DID NOT pass my car as satisfactory, has taken photo's and compiled his report to send to the claims manager at my insurance company.

and whilst nationwide state they gave a me vehicle that suited my policy class.

perhaps they should take a look at this quote on the motability website:

    * A 'Courtesy Car' is any vehicle that is provided to you by a RSA Motability Priority Repairer, whilst your car is being repaired .

I.E the repairer can issue me with ANY class vehicle and not one limited to what THEY THINK I should be given.

Nationwide has fallen extremely short in my case. They have only 1 more opportunity to correctly repair my car and hope that the insurance assessor signs it off, hopefully he'll call me again like he did last thurday and ill get to meet him there to view it with him, as last time I was not well enough to go nore wanted to see yet another poor job but I'm looking forward to going this time and making sure they have done a satisfactory job.
  • Is it really worth getting so stressed about?

It's not as if it's your car and it'll be going back son enough.

    Life's too short it's only a car.

i know you are trying to be right here and everything but you are wrong on so many counts
the bodyshop needs to be accountable and they should be holding a pas125 for accountability seeing as its an insurance repair, this obviously isnt being done in this case

I'm responsible for its condition its in my terms and cons of my contract with motability that, If any repairs are carried out they have to be of satisfactory quality EVEN if its been through carried out through insurance. If not I can be liable for the costs to put right the repair upon handing the vehicle back, its that simple its a lease car at the end of the day although more relaxed in the fair wear and tear department, any repairs that quite frankly poor and obvious im liable for the cost to remedy correctly.

Plus, you expect when you pay your excess and knowing you going to have a claim on file for 5 yrs at least you would want it back as good as the factory finish in this case its far from a being that by a whole margin.
