  • Not much doing really. I'm at the noisiest play centre I've ever been in with the boys whilst Mrs SJ has gone to a craft type fair at a farm, so it'll be a spendy day on both fronts! Visiting relatives this afternoon before a quiet night ready for a long long travel day tomorrow!

TT'd a £1 yesterday and today so that fund is ticking along nicely again.

I've given up on Santander as an option because of their lack of responsibility and morals...!!

    Hi SJimmy

Just been having a read of your diary. Congrats on your progress so far:T\
Also love your 'house on fridge' graphic :)

Thought provoking comment re S123 … nobody (and I mean NOBODY!) could have been more fed up / unimpressed with the Spanish bank … story for another day but vowed never to touch with a looooong bargepole ever again. Anyway, when looked at high interest current accounts and realised S123 suited MY purposes more than any other, I thought that the :money: perspective was different … they suit me for that for now, so I will use them for that for now for as long as they do - doesn't mean I like them or rate their morals, but putting my money elsewhere and earning me less would only aggranoy me and not them - and they aren't making anything out of me, just the opposite.

Also - re regular savers. Probably just me being incredibly dim :o but I was struck to read somewhere on here that you need to think of their 'rates' as actually half the amount stated, 'cos of the drip feeding / slow build up, if that makes sense.

Anyway, just a thought … I'll look forward to following your adventures and meantime have a good trip.

I'm back. Weary from tough trip and long flight but back. Lots of catching up to do, lots of budget things to do, lots of diaries to read!

First job is to see what damage Mrs SJ has done...

  • Thanks debtfree and hidden. Its been tough not being able to keep on top of money things for 3 weeks and definitely good to be back. The good news is that Mrs SJ hasn't done too much damage and we're perhaps £100 worse off than a normal month, so not bad for 3 weeks of keeping the kids busy to reduce effects of me not being there!!

I did try to log on everyday for daily sweeps. I didn't quite make them all, but i did manage £16.28 worth so probably made 60% of days for the month and am pleased with that. Next post will be October accounts, then hopefully back to normal!!

Slight delay but here goes - another great month that keeps us well on track. We had a few extra expenses like a new fridge, new hoover, 2 leaks and getting the dog's danglies chopped, but thankfully we've been able to absorb that into normal spends without too much trouble.

    Highlights
    • Overpayments - £503.29
    • Net Reduction - £972.52
    • Daily Interest now - £6.98 Woo!
    • Daily Sweeps - £16.28
    • Closing Balance - £128,028.73
    • Brick coloured in for £129k's
    • LTV - 57.93%
    • Remaining Loan - 94.14%
    • Cumulative OP's - £4242.76
    • Cumulative Net Redcution - £7971.27
    • Ave Net Reduction - £996.41

    Lowlights
    • Ave Net Reduciton has dipped under £1k
    • £28 short of knocking off the 128k's and i think we'd have managed this if i wasn't away!

On post 1 i stated a goal to be under £7 daily interest by the end of November but we made this target 1 month early so really pleased about that. In OP total of £503 we effectively have knocked another month off the term keeping us well on track for 10 years and i think now nudging towards 9 1/2 years, so we're in very good shape at present. I also have a target of being below £126,500 by the end of the calendar year and a quick calculation i think we'll better that by £500, so a month ahead of target.

If i can be i month ahead of the yearly target each year i'll actually be 10 months ahead after 10yrs! But with compound effects of interest those gaps will get larger, so 8 years may not just be a dream???
