I'm always tempted to TT the mortgage.Well, to get it to a new bracket, anyway, not sure if people consider 999.99 a "tidy" number!

I appreciate everyones anxiety at being slightly short, but were does the turmoil end??!!
I'm working on the theory that next month i'll definitely colour at least one brick in, so keeping me on 1 brick per month regime, Also i have £40 imminent off quidco for pooch insurance, followed by £47.50 from santander iin the early part of November, so i'll get there in the end!
Hidden - interesting thought TTing the mortgage. One that surprisingly i've never considered. The only flaw is if we TT the mortgage then the current account is untidy, requiring another TT. That in turn creates another untidy mortgage...and so on...and so on...
All coming back to my point of when does the turmoil end...?!
Think i'll stick to my plan of daily TT's and small change (for now anyway)...
I'm off to dream about spreadsheets, colouring bricks and hopefully not the number 1.25... or really 1.26...MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Look at the bigger picture SJ and how brilliantly you have done this month - thats yet another load off your mind - another chunk of money in interest the banks wont be getting off you! Well done mate!! :-)Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

I go for the mortgage personally as I can do that when the regular payment goes out, meaning I save interest for the whole month (rather than sending a few pence several times throughout the month). I don't tidy my bank accounts, though, as I have OPs factored into my budget (using YNAB) so that would have me overdrawn on the planned mortgage overpayment. Plus I like seeing a tidy mortgage balance all month long over an untidy bank account balance (balances, really, as I have 2 current accounts that I spend from) that I have to fuss with every day.
Everyone has a different method that motivates them, though.Think i'll stick to my plan of daily TT's and small change (for now anyway)...
I used to have a bank account in the US that would do this on all your spending. I think it just rounded every debit card purchase up to the nearest dollar and it would move the difference out to your savings account (so spending $1.07 on something meant $0.93 went to savings). Surprising how much you end up with in a month, and I didn't even use my debit card that much!0 -
Bet you drop into the 127s next month so the 2 brick jump is just yet to come
. Still excellent OPing :T
Ll0yds used to do (still do?) Save The Change whereby the odd was sent to a nominated account from debit card use. I did it to DS's account for a while, only to realise he was getting double pocket money that way - soon stopped that :rotfl:
Am also a round mortgage figure freakBack on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
My account will do a sweep once a month but not daily or after each transaction.
Technically i'm now in the 128k's as my nationwide interest of £8.04 has just been sent across to mortgage account, but i'm sticking to my 1st of each month - internal smirk only...!
So October is off and running and i'll have my 2 x TSB accounts to go and transfer the interest off.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -

Reading some other diaries whilst waiting for the plumber I've just realised I'd forgotten to submit meter readings, oops! Only 2 days late so not a big drama.
I've never really charted how much we use and to be honest it's nit something I want to get engrossed in, but interestingly our electricity usage was virtually the same and gas was only a marginal increase too.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
