Bit of a belated welcome to 2022. The end of 2021 didn't really go well as the news about pooch number 1 wasn't good at all, and its completely deflated us both. He has an aggressive tumour which will need surgery this week and then we just hope that we've caught it early enough that it hasn't spread yet. He's not ill yet and there's no visible sign of any lumps from the outside. We'd just noticed that he wasn't quite himself and was hiding his bum with his tail, so presumed he had an issue with his anal sac, which has turned out to be a tumour.
So no money plans yet for 2022 as we see what our costs will be. He is insured but we'll need to contribute something due to him being 7 (so 20% of the bill). I'm thinking that the money can come from our unspent holiday fund from the last 2 years. But now isn't the time for finalising decisions (never make decisions when emotions are high or low, always try to wait for emotions to settle first).
I completed my10k steps everyday for the 2021, and am intending to keep going for now. I also completed my running plan with a half marathon on New Years Eve. It wasn't a race or an event, just me on my own. I was really pleased with how it went, considering it felt like a battle against a stiff wind for 2hrs.
So for the early stages of 2022 my focus is on decluttering...MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......7 -
So sorry to hear about your pooch, Jimmy. At least it's operable, and if it hasn't spread, those things together could really make the difference. Completely understand you feeling down about it, though2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Poor dog 😕 here's hoping for a swift recovery for both him and your finances. What wisdom in not making a decision when emotional.
Glad you got out for your half marathon, well done! Lovely way to end the year.3
