That 50% barrier is such a big one to get too. We won't quite make it during May, but definitely will in June. From there we're on the downside of the challenge, and that snowball will start to pick up pace!
In I was to include the neutral pot then we'd be well past it and racing towards the 50k barrier. At the outset I always ambitiously hoped that we could be finished in 10yrs. We've adjusted focus to retirement planning and now have a mortgage neutral goal that remains at that same 10yr point (Feb 2025). Current prediction is that we'll be approx £10k short, but could make it for Nov 2025 which would be a lovely Christmas present.

Grrrr....lost a sizeable post!
Started the day off with a £1 TT as a mortgage reward for an already tidy current account. And then I OP's our debit card round up pot for the week which was £4.74.
I have also made some headway on removing some of the decluttered stuff that was lingering in the garage. It all started with removing a chest of drawers from DS2's room. This was emptied (and lots of the contents could also be removed) and loaded straight in the car. So I took the opportunity to also load up 2 charity bags of kids and adult clothes, 1 large bag of assorted toys and a childrens desk chair. On my way home work I then stopped at the recycling centre and placed them in the 'donation point'. There's a toddlers see-saw which needs to go to a friends next. At that point I can spend an hour sortiung through other piles in the garage and reminding myself about which is for tip, donation and to friends!
In the meantime I have 1000 calories that needs decluttering via a run! Before replacing said calories with Mrs SJ's chilli & a few cold beers

Excellent progress there! I've yet to work out my numbers in terms of percentage or daily interest, but it does seem like a nice way of keeping track. Does the bank tell you the daily interest, or do you have a nifty way of working it out yourself?4

Good to see you lippy. We're cracking on and inching closer to freedom! One day I can put mortgage neutral on my signature just like you.lippy1923 said:Been a while since I was last on but seems like great progress all round SJ. Have a good run!
It just seems like an endless task. No matter what gets cleared other 'stuff' leeches into the spaces I'd created. I had a good luck at the garage yesterday and decided I'm going to be very ruthless. There's stuff in there that is just being kept for no reason. So I'm going to try and make a mental switch to 'not having a garage at all'. What would I have done with the stuff if we had no garage?? That's the question I need to start asking!Karmacat said:You did well with the recycling, SJ, good for you

I track it with my spreadsheet, which was pinched off someone on here about 10yrs ago. I've since adapted a few things, but the actual original spreadsheet formulas are still the cornerstone of my approach. Failing that you can just take the added interest for the month on your mortgage account and divide by the number of days for the month.Cheery_Daff said:Excellent progress there! Not much doing today. Got soaked for 3.5 hrs in work this morning, so now at home half watching snooker hiding from the rain. Pooch needs a walk at some point and I'm hoping for a 30min break in the weather.
Whilst at home I'll be catching upon diaries and looking forward to the cakes that Mrs SJ is currently baking!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......4
