Ugh - Prepatellar Bursitis is what used to be called housemaid's knee - often caused by pinching while kneeling or otherwise aggravating the little sack of fluid that sits behind your kneecap and protects the three bones in your leg from contacting with your kneecap - do you know how you caused the inflammation? - was it too much tidying at home, on your knees, extracting socks and bits of plastic from under beds?
Or maybe what seemed like a little slip in the snow that slightly twisted it?
I should not tease you, I know it can be pretty painful. My ex had it (he was something of an athlete) but having looked at all the possible bio-mechanical causes his turned out to be gout, triggered by chocolate. I know things have moved on but I thought it was a 6 week injury with RICE and anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen? - That's probably not helping, sorrySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Pre patellar it is indeed. I think it was a combination of high mileage and a few hours in work scrabbling round on a cold floor. The work thing was Saturday which more likely started it and then a 12 mile run the following morning tipped it over the edge! I'm kind of past the anti inflam stage but didn't bother anyway as I'm cautious with my asthma, but have been pretty good with ice (or frozen mushy peas!). I was hoping that I'd only gotten it slightly, but alas feeling the 'heat' in it this morning again would suggest otherwise. 2-8 weeks I'm looking at for the heat, swelling and discomfort to subside, and then i'll add on an extra 7 rest before I restart running...
I definitely don't want it to return or be prolonged.
Little happening today. Currently watching the tennis with my feet up. I'll pop out with the dog and the kids when the rain stops, and then thinking of a movie afternoon for them (I may well have a little snooze...). Disaster has struck though as we've run out of tea bags.... This situation will not do, so I may have to load up in the car and nip to the coop for emergency supplies, or send the big little un...!

NO TEA??? How did this calamitous situation occur?? I do hope you can rectify it soon, I will be having my fingers crossed for you til then...
Sorry to hear about the knee, most vexing. I'm currently suffering with what I think is some kind of IT band mischief after not running for ages, then trying to keep up with a speedier person when I did run when we were allowed before Christmas. Exacerbated I think by too much sitting down. But I confess I've also been slack about ice and whatnot - your good example is inspiring me to sort it out before any running enthusiasm returns with the good weather...5 -
ITB is the root of most running evil! Foam rolling twice a day eventually solved my issue with it.
As for the tea bags...I was certain that we had a box in the cupboard, but i was wrong. It will be remedied before lunch!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6 -
Tea bag crisis was averted at 11am... Slight detour during our dog walk! It made movie afternoon all the more enjoyable. Sadly the snooze didn't materialise, "Dad, watch this bit" every 2mins!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6

Off to check Tea-bag situation - got lots of decaf ones (I know, but in the evening, otherwise I'm awake all night) but only one box of 80 normal ones (were 4!) and an emergency plastic pot in the campervan - ITB horrible - similar time. I did medial collateral ligament (years ago) playing five-a-side and they put me in a full leg plaster for three weeks to make sure it was rested and immobilised (punishment for exercise...)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Ouch. So many nasty lower leg injuries from what starts out as an innocuous game of 5 a side! Tea bag situation has gone full circle. We ended up with an 80 bag box that I bought, plus a further 40 that went in the weekly shop, and then a box of 240 as they were on 50% extra offer!
The weekend has been feels like it has been slow without running to break the days up. Plenty of dog walks, in between the rain, but that's about all I have achieved! Moneywise I OP'd our payment round up pot this morning. It sat at £3.61 for the week, so 25p under our daily interest amount. I also OP'd £24.75 utilities refund.
Payday is this coming Friday and I've decided to OP the premium bonds winnings from February, therefore I will buy £225 on Friday instead of the usual £250. My rationale is that if the money was in a savings account I would have OP'd the interest, so I should do the same with any wins.
Back to home schooling tomorrow and hopefully the beginning of the end. I have no issues with the kids education development, as that will take care of itself over time, but they desperately need to get back to socialising with other kids again.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......8 -
What you have been doing is not really homeschooling. Real homeschooling involves some activities which include socialising. You have had to deal with only the bad guy part of homeschooling & let's face it that is never going to be a lot of fun. I'm prepared to bet that in a few years when all this is over, if you try to get one of your offspring to go online to learn something rather than at a school or college you will get jumped on because of the amount of screentime you are permitting them/forcing them to do. No parent is ever going to win on this. Let's just hope that the kids themselves can be put in a winning position. They say that they are going to lose x amount through this, but if they are all going to lose then that is irrelevant. I still think that the biggest problem through all this is the lack of interactions with others, which applies to all including adults to children & children to adults, not just like to like.

Very relieved at your teabag situation! And your OP strategy sounds wise, I've been wondering what to do with my premium bonds wins (if there are any, of course...) - also been leaning towards overpayments. Although I'm planning to win £1m in my first month so that'll just get rid of the whole mortgage in one massive overpayment and then I won't have to worry about it! 😂7

We are currently reinvesting our wins, apart from the first one which paid out as the default before I went in to change it (3x£25 since August). I've just nudged DH to do the same with his account.
Re Teabags I have set up an amazing subscription for Twinings everyday 400 (4 boxes) every few months and then did the same with something else. I need to be careful not to get sucked in.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
