We had to cancel our plans for our 10th wedding anniversary a number of years back when both DH's father and then his brother died (his brother was under 50), we just could not under the circumstances. So we bought a painting. Then the following year we had a quiet weekend away on our own in the bridal suite of a not too far away hotel.
Loving the dog embarrassment. The wooly one we walk had snowballs all over his feet that he kept trying to chew off but he was eating the snow rather than embarrassed by it!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Well todays lunchtime walk with the little un's was eventful. There was a stray swan just sitting on a patch of grass on our estate, attracting lots of attention from worried dog walkers. Then someone turned up with some bread to feed it. We were all presuming it was hurt, so someone phoned the RSPCA to report it. Naturally DS2 was relentless with questions "Why is there a swan?" "Well whats doing there?" "Why is it just there then?" "How did it get there?" "How will it get home?"...and on, and on, and on, and on, and again, and again!

Happy to report that the swan is no longer there. I have no idea what happened to it, where it went, whether it went on its own, who took it... or any other questions before DS2 starts and/or south-coast starts!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6 -

Well I've watching cricket and tennis since 6am. Nice and quiet, no kids pestering! I have been mentally preparing for my Sunday long run but really struggling with motivation for it. So I'm going to get myself dressed into my running gear then I have no excuse. There are no afternoon plans, although I may spend an hour sorting the kitchen out ready to paint this week. We have a large kitchen/diner and my only option really is to paint it in sections, so I'm thinking of clearing half of the room this afternoon to save time tomorrow. I've had a look and there's only one small nail head in the ceiling that needs knocking out and filling.
£1 TT made this morning and our purchase round up pot has been shifted from current account linked savings to the mortgage. The pot for the week stood at £4.28, which is a nice sized overpayment for the week.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6 -
Chipping away here with a couple of £1 TT's the last 2 days. I've also disposed of a couple of stray items; top of DS2 that no longer fits and then a plastic toy that was lingering in the kitchen! Seriously I have no idea where all these little figures materialise from!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6

I reckon they spontaneously regenerate. Our house is full of the damn things and we don't even have kids!7

Mid month slump for financials, so it's just our TT's that are keeping progression and motivation. Kitchen decorating stalled before it even got going. Mrs SJ has quite a bit going on with her folks and work. I could sense a lack of enthusiasm for the kitchen upheaval which is understandable especially with the kitchen table also being our work stations. So its been a really relaxed and quiet first couple of days of half term for me,
I am extremely frustrated (probably grumpy is a more apt description) however with an injury that I've picked up. I've developed a spot of bursitis in my knee and that has ruled out running for the time being. Sundays long run (despite the wind) felt so good and I was actually looking forward to running in better temperatures...grrr! So I'm setting out to be disciplined and respectful of my 43yr old knee. I have been hard at the frozen mushy peas when I've got my feet up and hoping I can limit my time off running to 2 weeks. In the meantime the poor dog will have longer walks and I will be grumpy!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......4
