Great MFW start to the day. £1 TT, which also means another NSD day and then £20.82 cashback from house insurance had arrived in the current account. So that was promptly dispatched to the mortgage. 5.7 days worth of interest for the month taken care of
1 pair of of jogging bottoms added to charity pile for yesterday (I'm currently thinking that I should choose 1 item out of my wardrobe each day for 2 weeks, that hasn't seen the light of day for 12 months or more), and 1 pair of holey underpants of DS2 to the bin!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......10 -
I logged in to the bank accounts for the first time in nearly a week (test match distraction for the last five mornings) and did some significant rounding down this morning. All so slow though it hardly seems worth it. I must start on the clothing stash but it really bores me (and I seem to have stopped being a grown up)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Well done on the TTs, Jimmy2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
I had a cunning plan for the final day of the test match. Get up at 6, but watch the coverage from the start of play on 4 on demand avoiding any chance of looking at the score, and watch in phases throughout the day! My plan spectacularly failed when I turned the TV on and it was already on channel 4 and the scorecard was like a shining beacon drawing both my eyes directly to it!!
Thankfully my 'grownupness' towards logging into banking means that I log in every morning my phone whilst the kettle is boiling. Always hoping that someone has deposited a rather large sum in there...but alas we all know hope isn't an effective plan!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......4 -
I also normally log in every morning, we actually are expecting a largish lump that isn't the lottery but not for another week, It is the first 25% of DH's DC pension that we are using to top us up between stopping work and drawing our pensions. It was going to be used to travel somewhere lovely but it might go to PBs or I might use it to rebuild my permanent out-building where the concrete plinth has irretrievably cracked. That will take all of the lump, even if I do scavenge on FB marketplaceSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I suppose you could class travelling to your rebuilt outbuilding as travelling somewhere!! It's quite disheartening how the last 12 months have ruined plans. Our family has had 2 x 50th birthdays and 1 40th birthday. All the plans trips away and parties have evaporated. The current thinking is to class the 51 and 41 birthdays as big ones and delay plans by 12 months, but the longer things are going iot may end up being 52 and 42!
Nice £1 TT this morning which means we had another NSD (other than petrol but that doesn't count as its allocated for). Today we have pooch having his hair cut, which is the first time in 12 months that we've taken him rather than Mrs SJ and me hacking away at him!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6 -
We've missed a 40th and a 60th in our family SJ 🙄 mine was the 40th, at the end of April, and I'm not holding my breath for much being allowed at the end of April this year either! At this point I'd be very happy with a cuppa and a piece of cake in my favourite cafe!6

My 50th was last year and I missed out on a long weekend in NY
Our 25th wedding anniversary was also last year - with a 3week holiday in Florida booked for it... sigh..... but I would rather we all be safe and well. NY and Florida (and other places) will still be there in 1/3/5 years. In the meantime, most of the money is sat in premium bonds - and I may win enough in the meantime to fly first class if super lucky!!

One thing that Covid has taught me is to value the big occasions that we should mark, in the future.
Just collected pooch from the groomers, and the difference in him being cut properly is incredible!! Poor dog, must have all his friends laughing at him these last 12 monthsMFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......8
