shangaijimmy - I concur with karma - you're being realistic about homeschooling. And I thank you for your honesty, because I for one am fed up of the impression that is being given both in the media and from ministers standing up in parliament, that all our children are sat down in front of perfectly working computers every morning at 9am, engaging in z00m classes with their teacher in front of them at all times, and all their classmates in shot, merrily learning a full-curriculum until switch off/hometime at 3pm.
It simply isn't happening like that for soooo many households - for a wide variety of reasons - very few of which are anyone's "fault". 'Online learning' is a misnomer, and I wish it would stop being bandied about. 'At best' a proportion of children currently receiving some sort of education at home - rather than in the classroom - are making use of some sort of tech. There is a difference.
And rightly or wrongly, I too am strongly opposed to school invading the home. Each 'organisiation' is needed; can have strengths/weaknesses, can be refuge or opportunity - and every single shade of difference inbetween. But as in all things, it's about balance....... 😉

Thank you Greying...lets gets some t-shirts made "Save Home, Don;t Let School Invade"!! I am very aware that our kids are doing very well with home schooling. They have good tech, and in the main we havent had an broadband issues. And we are able to supervise sufficiently whilst providing a routine. I know so many more people that are really struggling.
On the real news... I'm delighted to report that the stain is now 10% of what it was yesterday, so I reckon a touch of scrubbing and we'll have it to 5%. So that's some money savedMrs SJ has headed out for the food shop just at school time...now the cynic in me would say that it was to avoid having to be teacher, but she's claiming its because she's a distraction, too soft and affects the effectiveness of my evil dictatorship methods...
The positive is that I packed her off with a picture list for the DIY shop with everything I need for decorating!
So the dog has had a 30min scutch pre school so walk number 1 is done, I'm scheduled for my little run at lunchtime, I have some furniture removals to do at tea time with my dad and then in between I have about an hour of prep work to do in DD's room. I have requested home made calzone for tea so we'll see how that request lands with the boss!
Nothing financial to do or report, other than money saved from not needing a new carpet!!

The worst bit for us was when DS was in one County and DH was teaching in the neighbouring one, and the Easter holidays were end to end with only the actual Easter weekend overlapping 🙄😂Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Well its Saturday so no talk of home schooling allowed!
MFW wise we've had a few payment round ups, firstly we had to do an emergency dash for dog food and secondly an emergency dash for white paint. I'm certain that we had some left over from DS1's room last August but it seems not, unless i threw away the half full pot and kept the virtually empty one!
That leads me onto today's activities! I've pretty much decorated for 5.5 hours with 2 short breaks for a brew! Very happy with progress though as I reckon I have 4hrs left at most. So barring any issues it'll be done by tomorrow evening and ready to move DD into her room on Monday.
Very disappointed with how little steps I get rewarded with considering I've been on my feet, up & ladders, up & down stairs (I can't believe how many times I forget a brush, or a roller, or the flaming paint!) all day. I took pooch for our daily mile earlier and I'm still only at 5,061 steps. I'm currently sitting down with a beer contemplating a shower before tea, and then I'll have to get out for some more steps - serves me right for watching cricket instead of going for a morning walk I suppose! One of my goals is 10,000 steps per day for the year and I will not fail on day 23!
Homemade cottage pie for tea tonight which I've been informed will be ready in 14mins so I best head for a shower now!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......7 -
Oh just to add decluttter wise. I made the decision not to put blinds back up in DD's room so they're in the bin, and won't be replaced. Mrs SJ & DD sorted through all her craft drawers and the seemingly hundreds of pens. So loads in the bin and we've decluttered one of the drawers itself to the bin (set of 4 plastic ones which are now 3 in size - how it looks being 1 level lower is astounding).MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......4

Seriously, steps up and down ladders count for double - it's incredibly intense, much more than it looks!2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Most impressed at your decorating and decluttering, well done! And I reckon steps up ladders count twice3
