Sorry to hear that DS2 has been unwell. I had a call from my Auntie yesterday to say her daughter (my cousin) who is a carer for a number of elderly people has tested positive. No symptoms at this stage but of course, all are isolating and Auntie is not a little anxious (she is 88 or 89 and had major heart surgery a few years ago). She is one who my cousin looks afterSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hope he is well soon.I have the greatest sympathy for working parents at the mo. Trying to juggle work and home schooling must be an absolute nightmare. We choose to home Educate and it takes every ounce of my energy and time. Trying to do a job on top - I take my hat off to you SJ and everyone in that boat.Try not to be hard of yourself though. Kids will be fine and won’t get behind if they don’t do everything set by school.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Other than the first morning with all the problems I am actually fairly relaxed about what we do with the kids in relation to what has been set. So long as they have a routine to the day and are occupied/entertained I know they'll be completely fine! Hindsight is a terrible thing as it mainly just shows you what you have done wrong...I now know that I should have just turned everything off, scrapped the morning and then come back to it at lunchtime, but hey ho... hindsight is there pointing a finger a me!

A positive day... 1 dog walk completed (second one will be done in an hour), 45mins run, all home schooling without crisis, DS1's Covid test in school was negative (DS2 we're waiting for his result), recycling has been collected and the dishwasher didn't flood the kitchen so is fixed for now...The best of all, we've had a annoying beep coming from a toy for about 6 weeks. You know the sound to tell you the battery is dying? Well this one has been dying for weeks, how long is it supposed to take?? Anyway I finally tracked it down this afternoon to a set of cheap walkie talkies that never worked. So they've been decluttered (not sure if it classes as 2 items though?)MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6

Well yesterday finished off with a 3hr online course
Thankfully it was painless and went by pretty quickly. I also expelled 4 more items of cheap plastic toys that were loitering in the kitchen, which is another mini win for the house!
One of the benefits of Mrs SJ getting paid every 4th Friday is that this year one of our January pays arrived nice and early...today! So a few money shuffles made this morning and a 30p TT to tidy the balances up.
One day of home schooling left for the week. I have a short recovery run to fit in at some point this afternoon and then I have some beers all chilled and ready for substitute teachers evening. My biggest challenge for the day is to discreetly convince Mrs SJ that we NEED to have a home made curry tonight...MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......6 -
Re the pencil dropping, I read that paragraph to my DH - he is a recently retired teacher. His strongest possible advice is DON"T GIVE HIM A PEN WITH A CLICKY TOP - whatever you do!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
