Been hoping to catch up with a few diaries but been swamped and struggling to make sure i post on mine. And i have confess to watching the football tonight!
Nothing really happening money wise. Just waiting for payday on Friday and then the magical time that is OP and month;y accounts update day!
Me and Mrs SJ are in a battle of wills over her buying a bike. I personally think that £250 on a bike when she's previously shown no interest (in 36 years i hasten to add) is a bit steep! She obviously thinks not! So we're stuck... I know that i won't win but i do need to stress my point for when it ends up sat in the garage! IN a way its my fault as she looked at one for £80 which i thought was great and then i encouraged her to go to Halfords to make sure the size was right etc... Lo and behold she wants one in Halfords for 3 times the price - me and my bright ideas!
And we've just noticed that baby SJ has grown out of pretty much all of her clothes, seemingly overnight! So new clothes needed, which also means that empty ebay bag will be full by the weekend!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Quick post before i get moving (I am up and dressed but have a had a brew and diary catch up whilst baby SJ is watching Peppa pig and boys at sleepover at nanny's). Heading in late this morning as pooch is booked in for his booster at 9.30. Then i have a day of typing! Really need to finish off my project and am determined to get it done today. I'm on my own all day so no distractions, just a determination to plough through with the promise of an early dart when its done!
Nothing moneywise happening other than i have a claim form off plusnet to complete to activate the £50 cashback, which they promise to pay within 2 months (time will tell on that one, but at least they have sent the the form within 10 days of activation as stated).MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
DH managed to find me a bike for £15 from a car boot one year, good thing too as I haven't really used it since! I bought an exercise bike (for quite a bit more than £15) and didn't really use that either, so we gave it away after a while... I think it's safe to say bikes aren't having much luck being used at the moment in our household!
I've never looked into cash back, but DH is, now that we're going to be responsible homeowners0 -

Oooh - you have my sympathies on the Mrs SJ/ bike front - OH and I bought cheap bikes years ago (when DD was a few months old) and we used them - for a while. OH has always been more of a cyclist than me, so then bought a more expensive lightweight bike - and it's been used a good amount (and is the back up for if DS1's has a puncture - usually discovered at 8am on a school morning) He then bought me a more expensive bike - it was used maybe a handful of times and finally went at the bottom of the drive earlier this year with a 'free' sign.....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

Well as expected i gave in over the bike but i have stressed for future reference i think its a mistake! Going to buy it out of August MB winnings, which to be fair currently stands at £657 so at least its 'free money' so to speak. And i still intend to OP 50% so £325 at the minute. I'm not likely to get too much more whilst we are going away this weekend.
Big job completed at work which i'm over the moon with. Very pleased its done before we go away and with deadline of 8th Sept i have a week when we get back to make any minor adjustments!
Desperately in need of payday as we've had DS2 birthday alongside brother and sister in laws so August an expensive month. Well off to bed for an early night. Last day in work tomorrow, yay!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Las day in work today...woo hoo!
August has been strange. In terms of the school hols the month has vanished in no time at all. In terms of finances its been a long slow one!
Car number 1 will be paid off in 5 days time, so if it then lasts then next 8yrs we'll have had our monies worth! Car number 2 is only a cheap one and if it last me 5 years will have only cost me £400 a year, time will tell!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -

I've just sold my bike on ebay! Lol! I bet you can't wait to see if she stops using it so you can say 'I told you so!', it's not often a man gets to say that!:rotfl:
