Hey SJ! Have worked my way through your diary today, from thinking of adding number three to a massive congratulations on the birth of your little girl! Your diary is very easy to read and there is so much positivity and enthusiasm! Congratulations on all the OPs! If it helps my daily interest is around £25!! Shocking! One day ours will be as low as yours, amazing stuff!

  • Thanks for popping in jodles, you did well to stick with it! Our highest daily interest was very similar, though I can't say exactly how much. Looking back 12 months ago to £14.81 makes me feel nauseous!

Another frugal day and no money out the current account, therefore £1 TT'd this morning. Looking forward to my weekly progress post tomorrow and hopefully that £2.51 off Quidco will have arrived!

Busy day today, so off to get the boys dressed and fed before heading to work.

  • £1 TT'd this morning to take the pot for the week to £5.51. This has been promptly OP'd! Interestingly for the 7 days I've TT'd £1 on 5 occasions which means for 5 days we had no bank activity at all :j

Now something has cropped up in the last few days and we have a £5k gift off family to do what we want with. We have several options for how to use it (pay off car straightaway, OP it all, place in savings and OP the 4-5% interest amongst others), but overall there's actually nothing that we need to buy. At the minute Mrs SJ seems keen on OPing the lot (genuinely her idea and not mine) and viewing it as a belated gift to help us buy the house, 10yrs after the act!

So watch this space. A decision will be made pretty quickly as we generally don't hang about!

Fantastic news on the £5k and that Mrs SJ suggests OPing it all - look forward to reading your decision :)

Wow that's wonderful news SJ. And good on Mrs SJ

Look at which is the most interest but also keep in mind what will release most cash. If the car can be paid off and release say £250 a month but is slightly less interest the car might still be the one to go for. xx

  • Technically the car costs us nothing as its money we've loaned off ourselves from pots of savings. I think more Than anything the decision will be based on how we feel psychologically using it, and we'd accept missing out on £5-6 per month if we just OP'd it all. Think I'll be leaving the major decision making to Mrs SJ for once given it came from her family. I'll just help by setting out the options!!!

  • Lovely news and fantastic bonus. Lots of options for you both, was just making an o/p to my mortgage when a page popped up stating if you have £5,000 in a certain account then you can register for a prize draw with over £500,000 in prizes, just mentioning this as it seemed strange that the next post I logged into was yours .... with £5000. ....... I believe :D

  • Congrats on the windfall! That's 4% of your current mortgage balance. :D

(I also love when DH suggests OPing extra money.)
