Can't they just give you their bank details over the phone?
If not put it in an interest account andwait for them to contact you. Keep records of when and who you spoke to0 -
If you have their address, why not send them a letter with a cheque attached.
If they don't cash it, them thats their problem. If they do, them they will have their money back.Never Knowingly Understood.

First point, as others have said, it is not your money even though it is their error, so you mustn't spend it.
I think you have done more than enough for them already. Keep a record of the contacts you have had over it (just in case), and then put it somewhere safe - to earn a bit of interest and to remove the temptation to lump it in with your wages or savings. Then write a letter to head office, telling them what you have done, and send it recorded delivery and keep a copy. You'd need a solicitor to tell you when the money becomes legally 'yours' (I'd guess 7 years, or is that income tax?), but eventually it will.
Or, write them a cheque from the account you paid it into, and send it to them with a covering note - recorded delivery again. Then wait and see if they cash it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Charge them an admin fee for repaying their money just as they charge you a fee for selling your car to them! Totally ridiculous.0

Yep, I'd deduct £25 admin fee and send them a cheque.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

you have made sufficient effort to return their money so now you should do nothing and await instructions from them to return the money. In the meantime stick the money into a savings account - doesnt pay much but you could get a tenner out of it for your trouble.0 -
If the money paid by BACS was in error, can the originator get their bank to reverse the payment? If so, theoretically the OP could send them the cheque and have the money removed from their account.
Is this something to look out for?0 -

to impose an admin fee they would have needed to agree to your terms and conditions beforehand. You cannot just randomly slap on an admin fee like that.
As long as you a. make it not worth their while to chase and b. explain what you have done it is unlikely to cause you a problem and will make you feel better.0
