In advertising, it is believed that familiarity breeds favourability. After a certain level of exposure, you start reading, you start being drawn in.

Hi

The techies have been working on new measures for the last couple of days which should go live in a couple of hours. We're hoping to see a marked drop-off of spam as a result after today. They're also working on a bigger piece of work as a more permanent measure.

To be clear, though, spammers constantly change their MO.

As you've probably noticed we had quite a long period where we had a lot less spam recently after the previous measures we put in place, but it started picking up again.

Any of you who are technical will know spammers find a way round measures we (and any site) put in place as they develop new ways to spam.

Our team's working hard on this in the background so please don't think simply because spam is getting through we're not working on it.

I totally understand.

Believe me, we're as frustrated as you guys are.

The last thing we want is you to be wading through spam to get to the threads and boards you're trying to read.

We're very grateful for all your help flagging them up.

As we see them we can see how they may have changed their tactics.
