    Redfox,

I would not agree to close and open this sub thread in your name when it is really MSE staff monitoring it.

Google MSE and Henlans and read articles like this and Henlans quote on what he/she does.

    http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/channels/supermarkets/asda/shoppers-cash-in-on-asda-price-guarantee-fiasco/232716.article

It puts a different meaning on Martin Lewis' latest so called news article ' Buy cheap stolen goods'

if you have any issues with any of that can you take it to the Forum Team or another thread please as this thread is about the spambots.

Of which there are many. Again.

I understand that but my point was that MSE hosts threads for 'Henlans' and the aim of Henlan's thread includes exploiting other companies mistakes for profit. Spam has the same objective, exploiting a weakness and causing harm to another business. I am saying that MSE can't have it both ways.

I agree, spam has been a huge problem to using the site for a long time.

If the BGs are unpaid volunteers who are spending hours of their unpaid time deleting it, that is quite wrong of MSE to treat people in such a way.

That is wrong IMO that Martin Lewis is due a £27m payout in September on top of whatever he has already been paid and a lot of the work maintaining the site is unpaid.

BGs should ask to see terms of the earn out and if there are any metrics that might give Martin Lewis an incentive not to be dealing with the spam. Is spam being counted towards engagement metrics for example.

This post is about spam and trying to find out reasons for it to happen and why it has not been dealt with yet by a hugely profitable company.

    1. Limit the number of posts a new poster could post on their first day to ten.
That would make it worse. Two hundred posts from one account is easier to deal with than ten posts from twenty accounts.

    2. Forbid posts from new posters that are not in English or if not technically possible, made up if non standard characters... the default language of the site is English therefore multiple threads in a different character type should be blocked.
That or regular expressions can be useful.

    3. If any two posts by a new poster have the spam button pressed on their first day of membership, then the rest should be auto removed.
Way too easy to use this for harassing new posters. Lots of topics started by a new poster and all marked as spam by many people would be a stronger clue.
