Things that annoy you in pubs/ restaurants

Restaurants where the kids menu only has really unhealthy options.
Other peoples kids not behaving.
Stupidly over priced soft drinks, especially the watered down dispenser drinks.
Service charge being automatically added on.
Variation of portion sizes for kids menus. Some places you couldn't fill a 2 year with the portion, and some my husband would manage to eat.
Used to annoy me but now I just remove it0 -
Entitleds... Those who think that they are the only people in the restaurant and make demands of staff that other people would find over the top
People who don't exercise control over their kids. If I'm trying to enjoy a meal out, why the hell do I want someone's kid running riot around me, then get told "oh, he/she's just being a kid" when I choose to ask the parents politely to stop their child from behaving like that
Incessant swearing- there really, really is no need for it
Another hater of the carbonated syrup and obscene prices of bottled soft drinks
People who don't wash their hands after they've been to the looI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Unruly children, foul-mouthed parents and people who are rude to the restaurant and bar staff.
Absolutely no need for it. I've never been a waitress, but it must be a pretty cr*ppy way to earn money and punters who snarl at and humiliate them probably makes it a million times worse. Especially as said ignorant punter is probably doing it to make themself appear more important and powerful.0 -

I dont just think its the bar and restaurant staff that get this treatment. I think anyone who works with joe public is likely to meet the ignoramuses of this world. i have been earning my living in this "cra*py" industry though for almost 30 years and in all those years....I have had maybe two/three REALLY rude customers. I don't take it personally as they are the one with the problem and they are probably the same wherever they go. I try to treat people as I would like to be treat and the majority of customers are lovely. Just a shame the really horrible ones are the ones that get remembered.
I eat out a lot myself and my pet hate is being left with a dirty plate in front of me for more than a few minutes after I have finished eating.
This happened to us a few years ago whilst staff were stood chatting amongst themselves. They consequently lost out on the sale of four desserts and four coffees. Oh and a tip.:DMake £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Another vote for unruly kids. Whoever opened up licensed premises to children (was it Thatcher?) should be shot. Even some decent restaurants have the ambience of a playgroup.
Butter/jam/milk in nasty plastic containers. Measly portions of same, even if not in nasty plastic container.
Being called 'guys' by the wait staff.0 -
Oh I hate that as well....."Hi Guys!"
Really winds me up. Wouldnt quite work with my customers who have an average age of 60 :rotfl:Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
The waiter/waitress coming over and asking if everything's okay with the food..not an issue normally but 9/10 times they ask when I have a mouth full of food. Meaning I can't say anything other than "mmmm".I am a Mortgage Adviser

Having to practically throw myself in the path of waiting staff to get their attention. I appreciate that when the place is busy, it takes time to get round to everyone, but deliberately ignore a customer and carry on without acknowledging the fact that the customer is waiting(a quick "I'll be with you in a minute" should do it) is just plain rude!SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j

Running free in the pub. It's bad enough when you are just trying to have a drink & chat with friends when a slobbering animal comes up and drools all over your legs but it is positively medieval if you are eating. And why are these unleashed dogs always so smelly? I suspect that thir "owners" have gone for a walk across the fields then dropped into the pub on the return. Their animals have been investigating the muddy river banks. Bleurgh!I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0
