Not restaurants, but cafes we enter for the first time where it is not apparent whether they have waitress service or order-at-counter. The staff must run competitions to see which of them says to the most number of customers at the counter in one day "Please take a seat and the waitress will see you shortly". Either that, or bet on which customer sits at a table for the longest time before realising nothing will happen until they go to the counter.
