Renovations and Repayments.

Thanks, Ali. I will take a look online. At this moment in time I can't really see how a walk in shower could possibly stay in keeping but I am prepared to have a look.
Today is looking fairly quiet. I've completely lost all desire to save at the moment as I'd rather we just sold the house, went to live with my parents and never saw a mortgage payment again. I suppose I just can't face being an adult. Also dreading son going back to school on Monday and potentially sparking another downturn in my mindset.

You'll probably need to get the nib replaced. Can't say I've ever had a need to use them as I guess I've been lucky and bought carefully but this is meant to be the place to go for vintage Parker repairs / nib replacements: http://www.penhome.co.uk/vintage-parker-51/51-repairs-and-servicing.html2018 totals:

Thank you, you're a lifesaverI shall send it off to them for a quote tomorrow
Thanks to their website, I've managed to work out it's a Parker 51 Mk 2, which were made between 1969 and the mid-'70s (when the Mk3 came out), so it's more or less the same age as me!

Glad to be of help. They should be able to replace the nib and it will write a lot better as nibs wear to the user anyway. Think about what you want to use the pen for and if you prefer fine, medium etc. Do you use a fountain pen on a daily basis?
Spent a bit of time looking on their website just now, seeing if there's anything to buy. This: http://www.penhome.co.uk/parker-51-aerometric-pen-and-pencil-set-english.html is a beautiful set. Too expensive in my opinion but I'd give them £300-350 just to have it.

Sunday 11th October, 2015.
Dear Diary,
Pleased to report my son is really looking forward to going back to school tomorrow, I had wondered if he'd not wish to go after being home for a few days but he wants to go back. I don't want him to go back but that's a while different story.
I've not been very well all weekend, so we still haven't managed to go to Bolsover Castle but it's been a very cheap one at least. Next weekend when we're all OK I'm going to say it'll probably rain and then we're into half term. My wife has speculatively applied for a job which would be quite a big step up the career ladder. She knows it's something of a long shot and is happy in her current job, so not a big deal if she doesn't get an interview.
No savings news other than I've kept to my word of putting £30 per week away and not spent any of the savings money. However, motivation to make any money is very low. Ought to get back to it really as we do want to complete the roof and bathroom over next year ideally.
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

I've no idea if I prefer fine or medium - I like the nib that was on it, so I guess I'll ask them to replace like for like. Yes, it's used every single day and even though I know it can be repaired, I'm actually more upset about it than I thought I'd be. I didn't realised quite how attached I am to it.

Asking them to replace like for like sounds a good idea. It will not be the same, though. A new nib will take a little while to get used to, it will write somewhat differently.
Not surprised you're attached to it, I'm quite attached to quite a few of my pens and none really have a family history.
The other week, I had a pen stolen at school (not the secondary school, this one is my old prep school that I do some music work for). It wasn't worth much as it was heavily used and not in great condition. I really didn't think I had any sort of attachment to it but am really sad it's gone. Despite knowing which child had taken it and asking them to check their music bag in case it'd "fallen" in, basically giving a chance to hand it back without any embarrassment, it's not been returned.
On that note, I think it's better to be called a 'toff' than have your belongings stolen ...2018 totals:

Had a good and productive day today.
Nothing extra saved but plenty of work done and I finally have some positive progress with my business after all the problems with my ex-business partner. Was actually quite glad son went to school because I've been far too busy to entertain him. After half term he's going to try having lunch at school. Can't persuade him to have a school made lunch so will need to think of something nice for him to take to school and that will not spoil.2018 totals:
