Glad you've come to an common ground with mrslk. Everyone has different things they find harder. Just keep reminding her! I think it's even harder when you are living in a dooer upper as it can seem like everything is never ending. I must admit I feel like mrslk myself some days but now (say for the last year or so) I control it.
I hope my son enjoys school, as the day is approaching he's becoming more apprehensive again, also wants to take the dog. No matter how many times I explain to him dogs aren't allowed to spend the day at school, he won't take my answer.
:rotfl: Our "dooer upper" really is never ending, we've been here for nearly 8 years. At first it was quite amusing living here, then things happened which meant the project came to a halt.Orange_Ena wrote: »Hi Alex. Well done on reaching your 10k target, that's brilliant news :T
Aww hope your son has a great first day at school. And that you get through that day too. Take tissues
Thanks.

There's more kids starting school on MSE than in my son's class. :rotfl:

Tuesday 1st September, 2015.
Dear Diary,
Due to the Bank Holiday I'm still convinced it's Monday which means in my mind I think I've got the whole week to get things done ready for next. Here's a note to myself ... it's Tuesday and there's far too much to do... Remember that thing called work? Well, there's some of that to do tomorrow.
The finances have remained the same and I need to prep some things for sale and also look out for some other things to buy in order to make some money for the roof fund. On the positive side Mrs K and I have agreed to transfer surplus money from the current account to discourage impulse spending. We'll see how long that isn't a battle for, though.
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

Hi Alex.
My kids are 12, 8 and 4.
Luckily for DS he is moving from preschool to reception in the same suite of rooms in the same building (from tigers to lions!).
So apart from spending less time lecturing the staff about vacuums, and a personnel change from one ace teacher to another...nothing changes.

Does sound like an easy transition for your son, does he currently attend nursery everyday? Is it a large school? My son's new school has two classes: one for KS1 and another for KS2. I suppose the nice thing about that is the fact he won't be stuck on Reception work which he's covered at home with me.
Lecturing staff about vacuums??
IIRC you're a teacher, if you don't mind me asking do you find you can spend time with your children and do the teaching job?2018 totals:

I'm sure you'll get a positive response but had you not thought that (probably) the majority of teachers are also parents??
And (forgive me as it's a subject close to my heart) why would you imagine that all children in reception will do 'Reception work'. Any decent school will assess him soon after entry, find his starting point and take him from there. I think one of the targets for LittleK may be working as part of a team and social skills (And I don't mean table manners!!).0 -
Hi Alex (and Maman).
5 years ago I would have said yes, I have time with the kids.
Today I would also say that but qualify it by saying that I often feel that all my emotional energy is used up by 4pm.
I drop them at 7.45 and collect them at 4.30 except on meeting/parents' evening days when it is 5.45/7.45. I work 5 evenings a week and rarely have a lunchbreak. I start work at 8.15 on arrival (no faffing!) and leave at 4.
DS is obsessed by vacuum cleaners.
The school is about 250 I think.
I removed my older two from a two class primary because of the lack of maths teaching and aspiration. Not all two class primaries are the same, obv. I think it depends a lot on having a good headteacher.
